question on stage 2
NGK are very good. Thats what i use. Just tell me when you need them and i will get you the part # for the NGKs and tell you how to gap them. Basically One step colder will help you from any predetonating of the cylinders before top dead center. THE plugs and the OCTANE of the fuel is where I believe the diffrent info is coming from. ALWAYS run at least 93 octane period! ecspecially if you are running a 2.79 with stage 2, and the other part of this little mod job are the colder plugs. Again, my car, in my climate and altitude, with my setup runs perfect. I KNOW KNOW KNOW this! PERIOD! Who you trust is up to you. I KNOW I AM RIGHT!!!
To be safe, the smallest pulley size I would go is a 2.9. If you are in a higher altitude you can run a smaller pulley due to the thinner air, but the only way to truly be safe when going to a smaller pulley is to have the AFR checked to make sure you aren't running lean above 6K RPMs.
I agree that an AFR read is always a safe bet. But, you are NEVER going to run lean on a stage 2 tune and 2.8 pulley, if you want to trust a 17 year old with a laptop and HP Tuners for your information...thats up to you.
Sadly enough, the 2.79 pulley leans the car out closer to where it should be.
As far as IDC is concerned there is conflicting information and graphs. I personally don't think it is unsafe. GM runs a 50 HP dry nitrous shot on a 2.99 pulley with the 42lb injectors and they state right in the kit you can run it safely WITH nitrous to 7000 rpms.
And if you look at the threads you will see more people have blown a motor due to 60 lb injectors and trying to tune for them which is next to impossible since they are WAY to large for our application. If anything go with 46 or 48lb injectors...what the hell would make someone go from 42's to 60's? Little over kill. I think people forget about fuel pressure...you realize our cars run between 50 and 62 PSI right, forced induction cars have a variable fuel pressure through the rails, but we can get into that at a later time. Your car comes with stock 36lb injectors for the stock 3.34 pulley. So they bumped up 6lbs to 42's to run a pulley that is .24 inches smaller. Yet you are saying it is safer to bump up 18 more lbs to run .3 smaller pulley? And this doesn't seem like over kill to you?
GM uses the 42's for a dry 50 and 2.99 pulley...you'll be fine...trust me your not packing in more oxygen with a .2 inch smaller pulley than you are with 50 shot of nitrous. I think perhaps you should listen to the people running the pulley instead of the guys with a different set up. Plus I challenge you to go back and find how many threads on how many cars have blown up due to 2.8 and GM Stage 2...you won't find many if any at all that don't have something strange about them like...well I had this CEL on for three weeks and then bam..never saw it coming.
IF that is you position the dont MOD outside of standard GM MODS. Thats the only way to be 1000% sure, without droppin lots of cash.
i just put a fujita f5 on mine yesterday and it sounds amazing!! i love the way the supercharger sounds now and you can feel a difference!!!!! i have no CEL and it fit perfect
No one can tell anyone what size pulley to run safely as there are way too many variables invloves such as altitude, air density in that area, outside temps etc. I know guys running 2.79's on a stage 2 tune with 42 lb injectors doing just fine, and I was dangeroulsy lean on ours with a 2.85 pulley at sea level (even our stage 2 pullley was not rich but rather lean side).

What intake should i get? Im debating between the Fujita or the Injen..... Im getting my stage 2 pretty soon. So i need your help between which one i should get. I have an 06 ss/sc so they will both fit perfectly right?
You keep saying that every oppertunity you get....
but there are countless people who have been running 2.8-3 inch pullys on stage 2 cars for over 2 years now and not one of them has popped the motor.....
maybe you should rethink that.
yes the IDCs are pushing it, and it would be better to go 60lbers....but the simple fact is....its not nearly as dangerous as a few people like to say.
HOLYSHIT!!!! I just checked mine, I have a stage2, I bought the car used 3wks ago and the original owner had the S2 installed at a local dealer , all the paper work is in the car. As I said I just check mine and I dont have the correct calibration in my pcm. I have a 06 and it should be, 12607645. After checking on the link provided on page 2 of this thread I have 12607605. Guess I need to take my car to a local dealer and MAKE SURE they do it right.
