Question TVS guys and tech please chime in

So I have a TVS set up right now with a 3.1 pulley with a 3" downpipe and 2.5" exhaust. I really like the way it sounds so I don't want to change it to a 3" (So don't even mention that...just let it go).

I have every supporting mod you can imagine except for meth (which I also don't wnat...so let that go as well... I'm waiting on E-85 possibilities).

Anyways the question is:

Do you think I could expect a good power gain over my current 274whp/242wtq if I drop the pulley to a 2.8 or 2.9 with 80 lb injectors and an electronic exhaust cut out? (And a tune of course)

What do you guys think? I want to break 300 on nothing but pump gas.

well, being that you don't want to do the 2 things that will net you the most power and certainly help your goal, I'd say it's going to be tough.

Great tune and some prayers needed.

you should be higher than that already. a 2.5 catback will not cost you much, if any horsepower on a conservatively pullied tvs. you should be almost at the 300 mark with just the tvs, 3.1", and exhaust.
If you have a bigger heat exchanger you shouldnt need meth if you stay with that pulley, but meth is always a good thing if you can tune for it.

I am going to blame your low output on the tune, barring any IAT2 problems...

and E85 is not available to everyone.

you also don't live on the northeast coast... I have never, not once, anywhere, seen someplace that sells meth.

unfortunately E85 is only available at one single gas station in our (Delaware) area. iirc it's like 30 minutes from him and about an hour from me.... so E85 is out of the question, for now.

as for meth availability..... Cecil County Dragway sells meth. do what i did when i was running meth. buy a 5 gallon race gas tank, get it filled up and then make your mix from that. it'll last you a very very long time.

the 3" catback.... i thought you already had one, oh well. your exhaust should be fine for your current setup.

it's all in your tune, RPM are great people but they are extremely new to the Cobalt world. i would highly suggest finding someone who is experienced with Cobalts & TVS.... i would highly recommend Area47. or maybe send your PCM to OTTP, let them know your exact mods and they'll flash a tune on there, i think it would be better than what you got know.

Hmmm... well then I guess its settled then. I have just about exactly what you have give or take a few different brand names. I'm going to pick up a 2.9 pulley, 80 lb injectors, and a better tune. Then I think I'll be money.

Honestly the tune I have now from RPM is good, but I think it might be uber conservative given the fact that there might be slight issues with it.

Well Thanks guys for your input, can always count on CSS.net to convince me to buy more ****.

Yeah I did have a Hahn 3" cat back, but I'm not sure why but it sounded like ******* **** and honestly it was too loud for my taste. I sould it for more than I should have gotten and bought a new magna flow 2.5 exhaust. I like it way better...just a matter of taste I suppose.

I hear you on the meth, but I'm honestly just not intrested in dealing with filling a meth tank periodically. I get that it will net me good gains, but I want the car to be low maintanance. Gas and go.

So this is my solution. Hopefully these upgrades and a better tune will get me over the 300 hurdle.
