Questions on ZZP downpipe

I have been thinking about ordering the high flow catted ZZP downpipe, but had a few questions before doing so. Right now I am all stock as far as the exhaust is concerned from the manifold back, probably will stay this way too until I can find an exhuast that I like on these cars. Will I notice any kind of seat of the pants increase in power just by adding this downpipe alone on the stock cat? It seems that this area is a big part of the restriction on the exahuast, so I hope so

Will I see any CELs or 02 related CELs from using this downpipe? I know that they won't change the drivability, but it's just more of an annoyance to me. I know that it can be turned off using HTP, but I don't have it and don't know of anyone remotely close that has it. Is there an 02 siulator out there that works well on the SS when using different downpipes and exhuast components?

The best catback exhaust system IMO on the market is www.modernperformance.com MPX 3" cat-back exhaust system.

You may or may not get a CEL from a catted downpipe. Everyones cars on the forum seem to have acted differently if you want the right answer. Chances are less likely with a cated DP though. Without some sort of tune on your car you will see roughly no gains. With GMS1 you will see a little and the car will feel a little bit better. With an aftermarket tune yes this will be your most beneficial upgrade.

With or without anything you are right about this being one of the most restrictive components on the Cobalt SS/TC. Hope this helped.

Thanks, but this is the LSJ section. Not the SS/TC LNF section.

Anoyne out there with an LSJ using the ZZP downpipes? Surely there is

I guess I should have titled this thread Check Out my Evo Mod, or Which LEDs Should I Use in My Interior. I'm sure I'd have probably gotten more responses

No, you won't feel a "seat of the pants increase in power" just from adding a downpipe. CELs are not common with ZZP's downpipe as far as I know.

I had it at one time, and I didn't feel a gain from it at all. If you custom tune for it you may feel a slight bump in power. Also, if you don't tune out the rear 02 sensor, or get a angled CEL eliminator you will more than likely throw a code with an aftermarket downpipe.

CEL is almost certain with a high flow cat but theres a couple ways around this like he ^^^ said. I have had the zzp dp for awhile and I have had zero issues with it. The gain from it is minimal without doing the rest of the exhaust that you probably wont feel an increase in power.

Any brand reccomendations for the angled 02 CEL eliminator? I'd like to get a proven one the first time around, instead of trying different eliminatiors until one works

The only one that looks promising is HAHNs to be honest. The only problem is with catless you are eventually going to get a CEL. Not upfront but eventually.

I bought one of E-bay, and it worked like a charm. I don't have to worry about that anymore though, because GM Stage 3 tunes out the rear 02 sensor.

The Hahn downpipe for the LSJ is catted. The OP has a SS/SC not SS/TC.
