Aem's short tube intake system for the 2005-2007 Cobalt SS 2.0 Supercharged is designed to be very mass air flow sensor friendly. Because it only replaces the tubing BEFORE the mass air flow sensor, it will never create a check engine light.

The only tubing that it includes is the tubing right before the filter. It's like a 3" section of pipe.

Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking. My K&N kit cost 300 and it's the whole thing. Whole section of pipe, high flow filter, rubber trim pieces, and the hose that hooks to the throttle body. Honestly, I am very fond of my K&N.

This is what the AEM intake looks like installed. I used to have one (the one in the photo). It performs just as good as every other intake I've ever tested on my car. The only thing it doesnt have is "bling" factor, because the upper portion of the factory intake tubing remains. No big deal though.

People need to stop thinking intakes are this magical power booster on these cars. They come from the factory with a decent cold air intake, and just by replacing the filter with a high flow drop in (K&N) you will pick up some extra ponies. People that replace intake brands are wasting their money. Take it from me. I've tested a few over the years to satisfy my curiousity. Focus on the exhaust side. The LSJ really opens up once you modify the exhaust.

Yeah, but with all those ridges on the stock piping, it will rob a bit of power. That why I went with an aftermarket intake system. To get a one-piece pipe that is smooth the whole way through.

To answer your question simply, no, you cannot replace the Injen with the AEM UNLESS you have the factory intake piping.
