hmmm... so I shouldn't be using one step colder plugs? I thought they helped with engine heat too, but if that's wrong then maybe they are not helping with my problem...

If you use 1 step colder plugs it helps prevent predetonation. The only real diff in a colder plug is that it doesn't hold as much heat. Running a really hot plug will cause alot of pre det. found this on another site.

you absolutely should be running 1 step colder.

When I got my OTTP stage kit it ran way too rich ... are you getting any other codes?
