rev limiter?

so i was driving to school a few days ago and as i was coming up the on ramp i saw there was a semi in the merge lane. i got on it a little bit and as i hit 4k rpm in 2nd it felt like i hit a rev limiter...so i backed of and hit the gas again. Then it did it again as i got up to 5k rpm...

anyone know what that could of been? i haven't had this happen to me before and everyone i have asked so far doesn't know

Do you still have e-85 in the tank?

You can't run e-85 unless you actually get tuned for it. It was a really bad idea mixing 93 and e-85. Please go back to 93 and try again.

Yup that happens to me when it rains crazy. Jusf dry your filter n do what the other guy said clean the maf. Usually when this happens I shift no higher than 3000 rpm and watch my speed and don't gun it till I get home and let it dry off.

sounds like a fuel problem. I had that same thing happen to me when I had a pump tune with e85, try easing into the throttle, If it doesn't happen it's either you still have e in your tank or a new fueling issue.

Any codes? I was having similar issues for a while, it was like a 'buck' or strong 'hiccup' around 5500 rpms is the best way i could describe it, after a while i noticed in my interceptor a MAF code, cleaned the MAF, deleted the code from the PCM cuz it kept coming back, and she runs great again

that's not it. He's talking about the sound and the lack of power as if you hit the rev limiter.

Hmmm, ok i know exactly what he means now then, i just didnt know if he was 'having trouble' describing the way it sounded/felt cuz i know i never knew how to explain my issue, just had to be in the car to feel it to know what i meant

at least that's what hitting the rev limiter feels and sounds like... he said "like hitting the rev limiter" so I assume.

Well, a misfire could cause a sudden bucking, as if you hit the rev limiter.

If I were in your shoes I'd start off with the simple stuff like cleaning the MAF and inspecting your plugs. If they seem fine, and the symptoms continue, I'd look into the possibility of one of your injectors crapping out.

Yea mine was a weird feeling, it would 'buck', sounded kinda like a sudden spike/blip of the revs, different than a limiter but almost like i misshifted or somethin retarded, and it would jerk forward and back and by that time i would be off the throttle, i had the plugs out like 3 times, changed them once, gapped them differently twice, cleaned the MAF then noticed the code, deleted it and all good, just do a series of things to make sure everythings all good, check the plugs, gappings, clean the MAF, simple stuff and see what happens. I have a hydro/nylon shield/sleeve that fits over the air filter to help prevent sucking air up in the intake too, it couldnt hurt to look into one of these
