RIPP Mods Turbo kit interest thread

RIPP Mods Turbo kit interest thread
I was down at RIPP mods today in SI, NY discussing fabbing up a bolt on turbo kit. They expressed interest in doing the fab work necessary.. If you want to check out there work go to www.Rippmods.com and look at some of their project cars..
They are also going to do my head porting and engine build. The kit would probably consist of a Turbonetics turbo (model and trim to be determined) ..
I just need to get some Interest going to see if they want to continue with this build.
this thread is only for interest and questions.. I've already heard the S/C to turbo BS and complaints abouit staying supercharged... but we did the math today and even with a small T.c. you will see a very nice increase in power. And thats just from what we lose in parasitic losses from driving the s.c.. From their standpoint stay with a roots type blower or even a twin screw is pretty much a waste on a 4-banger... and since these guys have had some of the fastest Fwd vehicles in the country., I'll listen to them..
So lets keep this thread tasteful since they will probably be monitoring it from time to time,,.
and trust me. A shop like RIPP is a huge step for these cars performance wise.
Lets get it going.

Well have them fab you one up, tune it, and tell us how it goes. We need kits that are proven to work not just lets see if it works. Let them know there is interest BUT we need to know price and what is included in the kit.

What kind of turbo ?
What we SS/SC guys need is an adapter plate so we can mount the TB on the intake and keep the stock intercooler.
That would make a very affordable turbo kit. Thats definetly something I would be looking for after I pay off my car, which is about another 18 months.
I would like something in the 350-400 HP range.

thats the plan, and since they do a lot of work for turbonetics, thats probably the turbo we will aim for.. something @900+ CFM @25 psi.. give or take, all numbers haven't been crunched yet, I have to bring down some more research next weekend... but we are working on one to utilize the stock air to water + an air to air for higher boost kits... looks promising, and by these guys reputation, it gonna be a pretty bad ass setup

I'm in for somthing like this. I just don't have the means to be a test car I need somthing that has been tested and works well. This car is my DD. So when products come out that have some real proven performance and that are reliable i'm in. So good luck and keep us updated.

will do. I'll have more details as the week goes by... but goal is 350 on stock motor which we think it can take it.. I was making over 290 for a while and my motor is still fine, did a compression test yesterday to make sure. But it will be an unspecified turbonetics turbo more than likely..

i've been waiting for this thread paul. maybe i'll stop by with you next saturday to see how the project is going. i'd recommend the same turbo as rich if they want to use a garrett. the gt2871r with the 4inch inlet 2 inch outlet, can support over 400hp. PM me for inducer and exducer sizing as i have them on my srtforums pm box and am lazy right now

yeah I know,.. but I think they were looking to contact turbonetics first to see if they have any interest in a kit for us...
I"m hoping for at least 350whp on pump with the stock motor, and with my other motor I'm aiming for at least 450-500 should be interesting to say the least

of course... dude if you knew the shop, you would not doubt.. seriously check out the link to their site... they had the fastest FWD on the east coast back in 1998 with a tegra that ran 9's @152 mph and still had power steering, functional tail lights, brake lights and headlights, with a full interior... www.rippmods.com .. check out some of their project cars

i feel with turbonetics your going to be limited to a 50 trim. t3/t4 style like us srt guys run. it wouldnt be bad but would have a little more lag then the 28. You guys have the ability to raise the rev limiter which is dope so u could take advantage of the 50.
