ok i havent gotten to page four yet, but Glockglade, the reason why you guys blow motors the way you do is because your supercharges produce a shitload more heat at higher boost levels then turbo would. I've seen Paul's datalogs and heard the stories, when your IAT's are above 200 freakin degrees F, of course your motor is going to pop. do i believe that much more then 300 can be gotten on your stock internals? No, but no one will have a definite answer until someone tries it.

This thread is for those of you interested in a reputable shop to make your car go faster. Because it seems so far the LSJ community is sitting on the bench while honda's, dodge's and volkswagon's kick your asses up and down the 1/4. Yes your car comes with a factory supercharger, that does not mean that it is the best means of induction, it means that chevy threw together a car at the last minute to try and compete in the sport compact segment.

sorry for the rant, some of the comments in this thread are absurd, if your not interested dont post.

there have been multiple people over 300hp on stock internals....
dunno what you guys are talking about.

hell one of the moderators of this site is over 320 with just stage 2 2.8 and spray.

there are a few cars here locally on 2.6's with meth who have dynoed at or close to 300 without the meth.....

320 with spray is just dandy, and it didnt explode because the nitrous was cooling the intake charge substantially. same with methanol. but you are still walking the edge with a supercharger. if the meth fails or the nitrous isnt present your not making over 300. not to mention the parasitic drag of spinning the supercharger is robbing your power.

tis true... I only pushed out 296 whp on meth with a 2.55 pulley and 60's... toss the s/c pick up a t/c and instantly gain @60-75 crank HP and thats only if you stay at the same CFM.. bump that up to 900-100 cfm at @20 PSi and you;ll be seeing a huge increase in power...

I can't wait.

Hey Paul, you betta make sure to keep me posted man...LOL. You're car is gonna be a BEAST for sure. I have to agree with what had been said about the supercharger limiting us. I really believe that we have a strong motor, we just need to solve the charger issue, which would either be a supercharger swap or, what Paul's doin..Bad azz Turbo swap.

Ya'll doin a stock motor turbo swap also, so we can have an idea of maybe a baseline of the power difference??

yeah we're gonna test on a stock motor first to get actual numbers... then the built motor gets dropped in and the real numbers get made.. I should be down there on saturday to work out some more of the details and whatever info I get will be posted up. I've been pretty busy lately with work and whatnot, I have to work in manhattan 7-12 on saturday morning, drive out to huntington LI to pick up my lincoln, and drive back to S.I. to go back to RIPP./. should be fun.

Im sorry but that whole comment is lame.

people say we cant run 300+ on stock internals.....I bring up an example of where its been done....
and your like "that doesnt count cuz its nawzzz and it was cooling too"
yah.....i think thats the point of Nitrous isnt it?

"if the meth fails or the nitrous isnt present"

wtf dude....you can say that about ANY mod.....

"if your turbo system has a boost leak your not making over 300"
"If you get a bad tank of gas your not making over 300"
"if your air filter gets dirty on your CAI your not making over 300"

what the hell kinda bs is that.

come on man.. this is not a thread for bullshit arguements... I stated that in the beginning.. this is an interest thread for going turbo.. if you're not interested... please don't post here...

John (fsrbkr) is an exeption, his car was done by RIPP so he definatly knows what he's talking about, also he's a freind of mine..

anyway.. lets keep this to serious posts only... and not make me regret trying to do anything for you guys.

i was making a point that the supercharger is creating intake temps that are so high they are allowing knock to occur. the supercharger on your car is not ment to spin at the RPMs a lot of the guys on here are spinning them too. I know of 1 cobalt personally that with just stage II and a slightly higher redline, his supercharger is cooked.

I was also trying to make a side point that with the decreased parasitic loss, because we all know that even a turbo takes some energy to spin, your going to pick up ponies that are going to allow most of you to hit over 300. can your motor take it? we'll see, i personally think it can, but i'm not a cobalt expert.
