Running Hot

Another damn thread again today. For a few days now my car seemed to be running hot. I was always at 180-190, but now I'm reaching into the 200's with ease. What can this be? Thermostat maybe? If so where are they located on and lsj motor? Thanks again

its not overheating. don't worry. low 200* temps are normal.

shouldn't be having any cooling system issues at that mileage. my car with stock fan settings used to get up to 215* easy. but if the car kicks on the fans and cools it down you shouldn't have anything to worry about. or whenever you see it heating up, turn on the AC. the fans should turn on immediately and cool it down

See that's what I thought. I used to do that all the time last year and it worked and about a few months ago I broke my AC condenser and I replaced it. I tried turning the AC on last night and didn't do nothing, didn't hear any fans kick on or nothing. I haven't got any freon in it yet but when I broke the AC condenser there were green **** leaking out. just throwing that out there.

well yeah the green stuff is freon. the compressor is not going to want to kick on without sufficient pressure in the system but i don't think that should stop the fans from kicking on

mine just finally reached over 200degrees (that ive noticed) while at the track. It got as high as 215 while waiting in line, creeping up. Hasnt ever done that on the street, and it only did it once while at the track. Temps stayed around 180 the remainder of the runs.

You have nothing to worry about. Our cooling fans do not kick on until the water temp hits 225. It is a pressurized system so it can take higher temps. If your AC had freon in it, then the AC fan would work and keep it running no warmer than 190

If your coolant temps starting hitting 200*+, the quickest, easiest way to cool it down is by cranking the heat on. It might sound stupid, but it'll cool the car down a lot quicker than basically anything else. If you have the Coolant setting up on the DIC and turn on the heat, you can literally watch the temps drop. It might suck on a summer day, but I'd rather be a little hot for a minute or two than have my temps hit the 220's or something.

Hmm, thats an old trick that still works.

I actually turned on my A/C and blasted the ice cold air My temps dropped into the 180s, and i was icy cold waiting in line to race.
