running hot?

car runs at 180-190 on the highway, and runs up to about 220-230 at idle, but then cools off. i did get a low coolant indicator, checked it, and it was full. any idea, or do these cars just run hot? any solution?

you can get a lower temperature thermostat, and make a switch to turn your fans on manually.. that should solve your problem.

mine runs hot too. but my fans come on @ 190 i think, and they usually keep it around there. normal temp for cruising in the summer is 179*-181*

in winter on cold nights i have seen 160* coolant temps (it was running like a monster )

there's nothing to worry about. as long as it comes back down when you start driving you're fine. but geting it up to 220 or 230 when stopped or even in heavy traffic is nothing to worry aboutl.

What you described is completely normal. Except the low coolant light, add some coolant.

ill let the dealer pay for that that overflow tank is kind of low, i saw the sensor underneath, but yeah, im taking advantage of this warantee thing

also, the dealership is installing a gm stage 2 kit. is there anything i should make sure they dont forget/screw up? and, what kind of hp gain is there, can you tell in the driver seat? thanks in advanced, kyle

If you car is new the overflow sensor could just be stuck. For the first few days I had a low coolant light but I had coolant in the tank. I think it sits for a while in a car lot and the sensor gets gunked up and needs to be freed up.

Completely normal, mine runs to 225 degrees eveytime I sit in traffic, and every so often (like today; first time in a couple months) I get a CEL, I never get it for low coolant though, its usually a rich code and/ or CKP sensor code bc my light flywheel doesn't like idling.....ne ways, the CEL goes away and my car has always ran strong....
