maybe its not the rings but it could be the head of the pistons themselves, they crack due to pressure.... thus why we have diamond coated pistons available..... if i remember correct it was why they developed them..... the funny thing was he didnt even realize it was the problem until he torn the motor down.... all he knew that something wasnt quite right with the amount of power he should have had....

yeah, not too many performance cars would have parts designed to break at only 100 more horsepower, or designed to break at all. but yeah who knows, maybe he was a special situation or like carstedt said, just had been on the way out already

ok so i did a small amount of research.... i also talked to a fellow member on this site who is lil more knowledge.... what gm performance division found about the stock pistons when producing 300+ hp is that they do crack.... even in this engine build article they are saying when planning to produce over 300 hp you should change the pistons.... points 7 thru 11.... if you ask me if this problem hasnt happen to you and your producing 300+ then touch wood and thank god.... your a lucky person....

i will say when i was on my stock motor tvs street tune was 352whp. Went 12.4@114 pump gas i would pull lnfs badly with the same or more boost level. I seen about 22lbs. the powerband of the lsj is continuous where the lnfs is short bursts of power. When i was on my m62 at 18psi i would pull lnfs as well. now my race tune there was no contest.

your being overly dramatic over nothing the reliability comes from the tune running good fuel and meth or e and not beating the immortal **** out of your car on a constant basis even forged slugs wont take that
