thats a relief... yea somethings up with the car though. I hear stage 2 is good for 102 traps and i know for a FACT that car will not trap over 100. It does say 2.8 right on the pully. like i said before i know NOTHING about cobalts but through basic car knowledge i know thats not gonna trap over 100. he gets beat by a bone stock 03 srt, a stock 03 srt shouldnt pull toooo much from a stock cobalt, 04 and up is a different story.

i know theres freakish factory cars then the median then the lower performing ones, every company has em but do cobalts have a wide range?? or are some just realllllly good and the rest lack power...

compression test, leak down test. if both of these comes out in factory specs. have the car tuned.

OK here is what I think. SRT-4's are fast, real fast, like 110 in th 1/4 on stock turbo fast. No one knows why it's just that way. I bet his car was just real fast.

As far as you feeling your car doesn't have enough umph then you should get it retuned. It is possible that the car was bought with an after market tune. If so it could have been a garbage one. SOoo, why don't you find a tuner locally to retune your car. I suggest SMG autosports a supporting vendor is in Milford mass. I think thats kinda near you.

I have his number if you want it.

Also check what colour your injectors are for me please. If they are green please dont drive your car in boost anymore.

A wideband gauge would also be helpful for you, to diagnose the problem, and to retune.

cheapest way to see if you have boost leaks is to look at your boost gauge, it doens't lie. you should see ~15-17psi with that setup.

haha funny u mention srt's 110 stock turbo... when i had my srt i ran 110 with just cca intercooler, wastegate and stage 1 pcm lol... without pcm i ran 108's consistantly.. paid 200 for intercooler, 60 for wastegate and 300 for pcm.. 560 bucks for a 110 trap? cant beat that lol

Seriously don't drive your car in boost. Your car will blow up. I'm not kidding.

Chances are that he had other injectors in there so he probably didn't damage the motor. I would do a compression test to see if he did damaged the motor. If it passes buy some 60# injectors and get a tune and you will be good to go.

If it doesn't pass a compression test take it back and get your money back.

yup. green injectors are the stock ones..not good with 2.8" pulley. stage 2 42lbs are grey. Work with with stage 1/2 tune and 2.85 pulley.

depends on who's doing it. Installing the injectors should be pretty cheap. Getting it tuned is gonna cost you AT LEAST $500 for a GOOD dyno tune

Yeah, that just means some other dealer will buy it and sell it, probably in some other part of florida or maybe out of state, probably at a used car dealer or smaller dealership. Don't worry, we'll see your old POS back on here one day, and if ANYONE ask me ANYTHING about that car, I will punch them right in the sack. **** YOUR CAR BRIAN!!

Swap your own injectors, it takes about 1/2 hour and is simple .

http://www.gmperformancedivision.com...J_Chap_3&4.pdf

The instructions for injector installation start on page 23 , it will save you a few bucks .

How much boost are you seeing , if they flashed it back to the stock tune it should bypass the boost at 12.5 psi . If it has some tuning it will boost pass that number . good luck .

No it wont @ all. Infact I'm thinking closer to like 1/2 that. And what you really want is a street tune.

Don't just install them. The car wont run w/o a tune if you just install them. Just bring them to SMG and he will take care of you.

theres really only or 3 places you could have a boost leak. the supercharger to manifold gasket and the intake manifold to head gasket. it could be possible that the supercharger to manifold gasket is leaking since the blowers been off before.

i'd do a compression test and a leak down test and if those both come out good, start checking out other things, especially a/f ratio.

Just to add something more to thing about.

If the previous owner had the car tuned for 60's and the 2.8 plus what ever other mod he may have taken off, would he think about returning to the original factory tune?

I know it's just an if, but it's something to think about.

The other if, is he just threw a 2.8 on there first and realized he didn't get the extra umph he was expecting and traded it in.

I was saying install them and go get a tune , if you stay out of it on the way to get tuned it won't hurt anything . What are they going to do ... just have a lower IDC. I drove my 42's to get my stage flash and didn't notice one difference .

No the computer doesn't know the difference. You were probably spewing gas through your motor. Your afr's were probably in the 10's Id bet. W/ 60's its going to be even more pronounced.
