Yeah, you have to remove the splash guard to gain access.

Instead of a cold air intake is there a FMIC for the SS?

A roots type supercharger does not benefit from a FMIC. Your IAT temps will go right back up after the air goes through it. The water to air IC works just fine as part of the intake manifold. If I were you I would rethink my goals about what I want out of my car. The only way you should look into a FMIC is if you go turbo. Short of that, any intake is functinal...

Not trying to give a free plug but try summitracing.com go to the online store type in your chevrolet cobalt and year and check out there intake selection. Shows pictures of the actual intakes for our car. Injen, K&N, and Aem. Even the black Injen one.

Z Speed 04-15-2007 06:22 PM

Im tryin to decided on which intake to go with cause I was reading that both the K&N and injen have fitment issues. I dont wanna bother with aem cause thats just a peice of pipe and a filter for 180 dollars. so for 40 more ruffly i could get a full hard pipe. Anyone that has just gotten either K&N or Injen and has had fitment issues let me know where u got it.

G85Cobalt 04-17-2007 04:58 AM

fujita all the way..love the sound.. :)

Lol yes many have ported there blowers including me on my last cobalt, search and you will find info on this.

betterthanbad 04-25-2007 10:47 PM

Damn, some people have fitment issues and some don't. Can't I get a straight answer as to what intake doesn't have fitment issues.?

Chevylova831 05-14-2007 10:44 PM

almost all of the intakes look like they're made out of aluminum, which atracts more heat from the engine bay and heats up the air....arn't there any plastic ones out there?

Rodimus_Prime 05-15-2007 12:09 AM

yea, stock lol

Wrong...

My intake is 3" from the TB to the filter. And actually, I'm pretty sure it's the only "One-piece" 3" intake on the market. Not to mention that it's made of SS instead of Aluminum so it has better thermal conductivity.

I've got a video of us installing mine, took about 10 seconds. No fitment issues at all...

rallycobalt06 05-18-2007 06:20 PM

due to the fact that i dont want to read 14 pages of posts i'm going to ask this question...

which intake is the "best" for the ss/sc? right now i have my sites on the injen or k&n.

*GateCrasheR* 05-28-2007 08:14 PM

JBP GEN 2 Intake

I have read every word on every page of this topic and may of missed somthing or some one. But alas i cant go any further, my eyes feel like their going to melt and my g/f is going to beat my ass if im on here any longer. All i need to know is who has the JBP intake and what they really think of it, and how it fits. Im sorry I had to post this. Any help would be greatly appriecated.

oakvilleblades91 06-05-2007 08:57 PM

does anybody know if GM cold air intake will void the warranty.... i just ordered a 07/SS/SC and what to put on the GM cold air, stage 1 and the cat back exhaust (preformance). My dealer is telling me that the cold air intake is going to void the warranty,, but on the cobalt accessories site is says that the cold air intake has the 3 year 36 000 mile warranty if put on by the dealer

Chevylova831 06-05-2007 09:15 PM

well if manufacturers were smart they would make a plastic intakes and not just ricey BLING ones

Bumpin Balt 06-07-2007 10:04 PM

1)I didn't know GM made an intake for the SS/SC, I thought they just had one for the 2.4 SS? 2)Has anyone tried one of those no name intakes that are selling on ebay for around $70 US?

Coop 06-08-2007 09:26 AM

I have and after modding it I have had no problem. What I mean by modding is you must cut a piece of the pipe off at the tip where the filter connects because it has a smaller diameer than the rest of the pipe and it will sometime cause you to throw a code.

kwest 06-12-2007 03:02 AM

Has anyone used to cold air intakes off of EBAY???

FastSSinNH 06-12-2007 05:50 PM

I want to get an injen intake for my ss/sc. I gather from people with injen intakes, cels aren't to common. Am i correct in this assumption?

Stage2gofast 06-13-2007 09:31 PM

06 -07 intakes

what are people running on there 07's for intakes ? do the 06 models fit 07's? I test fit a 06 K&n and the peipe didnt look like it was going to fit

zay52790 06-14-2007 12:35 AM

i dont know if anyone already asked about this, but does anyone know anything about the secret weapon intake from weapon r, i have been looking into it and the concepts in the dual tube thing and the ability to add the tube for short ram seems interesting. and i think its supposed to be loud as hell
