this car is surprising from a roll. 40 is a sweet spot too. i see no reason why you shouldnt pull slightly on him. get it on video and let's see the outcome tho. the bickering going on in this thread is pointless without that.

You said he is a fat **** and he has a conv. so right there you have a 550lb weight advantage. You have a 7000 rpm redline as opposed to his 6200 rpm redline allowing you to take more advantage of your gearing. from 40 to 110 you will hit good power in both 2nd and 3rd. He will start from a dead spot in second eventually hit good power but then he'll have to shift to third and will once again be in another dead spot. Do people not realize he has the shitty gear ratios of the 700 R4 tranny from the ****** 80's. The only diffenrence is hit tranny is electronically controlled, big whoop still has the worst splits of any gm auto tranny ever. The only thing the vette has going for is about 30 more whp which is easily overcome by all of your advantages i listed above. In this particular case the almighty vette/LS1 will lose to this lowly cobalt/LSJ.

Like I said i ran a c5 auto coupe vette with filter and catback and that thing pulled me hard. 4 cars from 40-140 and you have less mods then me so it would be worse. Not trying to bring you down but don't get your hopes up on beating him unless like someone said the car was beat to hell and not taken care of very well.

First off thats a coupe...a convertible is quite a bit slower, secondly a filter and a catback is not stock, which also helps an LS1 and third off, they are not racing to 140. Please reread what they are racing and stop comparing your race against an entirely different car. It does not make a good comparison.
