I think the general idea off the bat is to get the car breathing better so intake and exhaust are usually the first performance mods ppl do.

Very true. I'm sure that was my mind-set. But if i'd actually done some research i would have found a drop-in filter is all the SRT needs as its stock box works really well. The CAI was worth it though, the xtra space it creates and the ability to hear the surge valve through the now open filter system.

An intake is still a good mod for SRT4s. Nice sound, and really cleans up under the hood. I love both cars, and it wouldnt matter to me if the SS was faster or vice-versa. They're both great cars.

Im not building a 2.0L for a Cobalt. There are a few too many variables to say '9.5:1 + 12.5PSI = 205whp

Take into consideration that they run the same 1/4 mile time (STOCK) according to some magazines, and in some the cobalt is only 1/10 or so slower at most. I also believe thats with the cobalt being a slight bit heavier than the SRT-4.

The SRT-4's turbo is really small. It doesn't have much turbo lag! It has very little but trust me, you are wrong when you say "While you're spooling up, we're gone." That may be so for those big turbo upgrades, THEY LAG, but the srt4 stock turbo doesn't lag that much.

Because of their lag, they are able to get decent launches and get their cars in to high 13's stock. I have only seen ONE person with an ss/sc that recieved a 2.1 60ft time on the stock tires. Most of the 60 footers I see are in the 2.3's to 2.4's which is mainly because of the supercharger (and people getting on the gas too much too early). I'm not going to lie, I would get a 2.3-2.4 if I went down to the track. Maybe even slower than that. Our supercharger makes it hard to launch the car.

SS/SCs and SRT-4s do not run the same times in the 1/4. Equal drivers on the same day at the same track and the SRT-4 will be .4 to .5 seconds quicker. We are not magazine racing here, we are real world racing. Before you start spouting off about what other cars dyno at maybe you should do a a little research first. SRT-4s dyno anywhere from 220-240 FWHP, not crank along with 240-260 ft/lbs torque, also at the wheels. And, yes the SRT-4 engine is a stronger engine. It can make 500+hp/tq on all stock internals before needing any upgrades.

god this **** tore apart another thread for like a week. lets not do it all over again here.

the 2 cars are so evenly matched that if either driver ***** up, it will cost the win.

simply put, perfect world, stock for stock, Srt will win.

but we all know 2 drivers never drive the same race after race.

(trying to talk modded vs modded is stupid, dont even do it)

Most of the people in my area who I race with have SRt's, I am the only one with a cobalt. I will tell you that i raced the srt's (both stock and tuned) from about 40 and they all got about 1to 2 lengths ahead by the timewe got to 120 or so and i accepted defeat, I havent raced any since I got stage 2 though. Dont underestimate them, it is easy to make rediculous power with them too.

I've raced stock for stock. Neither of us pulled on each other. It was great.
I raced my intake vs. intake, bov, and 3" turbo back = my ass got handed to me
I raced GMPP Stage 2, intake and exhaust vs. same car = his ass got handed back
I raced GMPP Stage 2, intake and exhaust vs. Stage 1 ECU, intake, bov, 3"tbe and AGP wastegate = got my ass handed to me royally

This was the same car as we both progressed through mods. He currently still beats me with my setup. This is the real deal.

(Just watch out for some SRTs when you ask what stage they are, they could have ANY combination of mods in there)
Is there any way to know if an SRT-4 is staged by looking under the hood? Is there anything you can look for that could set them apart from a stock set-up?
