Stage 2 Warranty Issue

I went to my local dealership yesterday to talk to the service manager about getting the kit put on. I told him i was not buying the kit from them and he said that they rather i get it from them so i can have it all on the same bill for warranty issues. If i get it from somewhere else there may be some issues with my warranty. I plan on buying my kit from crateenginedepot or fred beans parts. Was the service guy just trying to get me to buy the kit from them or does he have any grounds to question my warranty if i supply the kit. I'd rather get the kit from crateenginedepot or fred beans because it is alot cheaper than buying it from my dealer at 960.00. These are GM parts dealers aren't they?
What do you guys think?

Buy it where you want to. They just want to make a quick buck off you. It will be covered the same.

OMG... do a search on this topic, 100's of questions about this already.....

YOUR WARRANTY IS WITH GM NOT THE DEALERSHIP !!!!

Your dealership is trying to make money, what dealership wont ?

You can buy this from anywhere as long as it is the GM Stage II kit, and even install it yourself, have the dealership reflash your computer and you still have your warranty !!!

Sorry Kemble for asking a creditable question about a cobalt on a cobalt site. I would prefer to get some of your guys info and opinions specifically on my topic instead of reading older threads. I just want to make sure I make the right decision regarding the purchase of the stage kit, especially if i can save myself 300 dollars.
I'd really appreciate if anyone else had some input about my post.

Im sure your not a noob when it comes to the internet and posting on forums of ANY topic of interest. You should know the general rules of saving "regular members" the hassle of reading and posting the same subject over and over again. It's common courtesy to just use the search button and ask your creditable question about your particular issue there. You will find alot of answers and probably find more information about your subject then you expect to find and will help answer alot more questions that you may have than waiting for someone to repeat something that has already ben said. Most of the time when ppl see the same question asked that they have already answered 100 times they will just move on to the next thread. Most times you will find more answeres by searching.

Not meaning to flame/put you down or disrespect you in any way, just reminding ppl of forum ediquette and to use the search button for quetions that are probably commonly asked questions.

You also noticed I answered your question in my post instead of just saying "Use the search button".

get it on the same receipt??? what a crock of ****.... guy was trying to make money off of you, and tried to use the trump card... buy it where you want, install it where you want, and do the same thing that you hopefully do with ALL of your service receipts, whether it is from the dealer or you do it yourself... i have a little binder and everything goes right in there..

Personally I am sick of people saying use the search feature. First off I find it a pain in the ass, secondly when you do find your topic you have to sift through all the trolls and lamerz that went off topic to find the answer within the topic. Just my 2 cents
