Ok.. And? That's a built track car. If you wanna do that. Put it against a built Skyline race car.

The TIME ATTAK car is the car from the Street Tuner Challenge show on SPEED. They built the motor to cope with the boost IIRC...
- Eagle billet Rods
- Wiseco Pistons
- CNC ported head
- aluminum flywheel

So if THAT's what they meant by stage 3... I doubt you'll see it anytime soon in your Chevy dealer! LOL

PS> It DID beat the Skyline in the show... but it "broke"

To get 355HP in the stage 3 SRT-4, you need to fill the tank with 100 octane racing gas, and then use the "Turbo Toys" to activate "High Octane" mode. Then, and only then, will you actually get 355HP.

Running 94 octane with a Stage 3 in regular mode (not race gas mode) will yield you 310HP. Perhaps you could get away with running HOM with 94 octane if you had water/alchohol injection, but I don't think its worth your engine to try it

As for the SRT-4's stock HP/Torque rating, its underrated from the factory, just as the Cobalt SS S/C is. The SRT-4 is rated (stock) at 230HP, but most dyno at 230HP to the wheels, meaning the actual flywheel HP is about 260. Most SS S/C's dyno about 210WHP, meaning they are making 240HP at the flywheel. The 20 Flywheel HP difference explains why the SRT-4 is slightly quicker than the Cobalt SS S/C stock

There is no way you can hurt ur engine useing HOM with just 94 or water/alc injection b/c the knock sensor goes on "high alert" and if somthing is not right it over ride HOM and put the timing back to normal.

Both of those cars were at a total disadvantage against the Cobalt SS. The Cobalt SS driver is little experienced, he's the current SCCA champion.

This says it all
The Cobalt build team was comprised of engineers and designers from the GM Performance Division and Powell Motorsports, while the Nissan Skyline was built by XS Engineering and the Jetta was assembled by Autobahn Designs.
I hope you guys know that a skyline in the hands of a company cabible of making it a race car - it would totally whip a Cobalt SS anyday...

The wax comment was based on the article I dont think I could ever compare a cobalt to a skyline.

Yeah I did, which has been proven to be highly inefficient.
But hey maybe inefficient supercharger + inefficient turbocharger = 100% efficient intake system

Here's a better question. Stage 3 is only putting out what 263 horsepower?

That just show's that the blower is pretty much ******* maxed.

I agree, so switch the blower. Chevy could make stage 4 and have a S/C swap.

Why even have a stage 3 then? Or a stage 2 for that matter?

I'd have to say that the stage 3 sounds like a wash.....
How many REALLY want to mess with getting a NO2 bottle filled, not
to mention the extra weight???

Since only one other person has pointed this out so far, and he seems to have been ignored...

Notice that the peak hp is a 7k!!! That extra 500rpm is a considerable improvment when our shitty gear ratios are considered... I want to go to 7.5 on mine personally... but 7k is a good start..

I don't believe there will be a stage three for us under warrenty..... anyway. The reason being the use of nitrous. After reading this thread it is apparent the stage three is connected to the car at the sema show. So don't get all heated up about it.

Cost, the other upgrades 1 and 2 or 3 (all hypothetically *****) are hopefully at a decent price for ppl that want a lil more power.

Another Stage w/ supercharger swap for the all out mothas, Like me

If im not mistaken stage 3 for the srt has to upgrade to a bigger turbo.
