This is a severe noob question but I'm going to ask it anyway cause I need to know. Right now I have a stock '06 SS/SC in which I put 87 octane. If I was to get the Stage II would I need to put 93 octane or could I still use 87 octane? I'm a poor college student so the extra money in gas could be killer. I apologize in advance for this noob question...thanks all.

No offense but you are supposed to put 91 or higher octane in the car stock......you putting 87 is probably not the wisest idea....I could see doing it a couple of times but you sound like you put 87 in it all the time...That's being really cheap especially since we aren't talking about your everyday engine no offense. Shyt, I used to put 94 in my car until they took it away from my area.

No offense taken but my SS/SC is my everyday driver...lol
The dealer did tell me that 87 was acceptable as did the Owners Manual

the computer adjust accordingly to the gas it is running. While it wont hurt the car in stock form, it will hurt performance drastically

So basically in stock form I can run 87 octane without hurting the car but I'll just sacrifice performance? However, if I get the stage 2 upgrade I will have to run 91 octane to avoid hurting my car, correct?

yes, stage 1 and 2 require a minimum of 91. if you don't use it you will not only lose perfomance but you'll get pinging from your valves, and you don't want that.(tiny explosions inside of your motor.)

If you do any mod you should bring the octane up to 91 imo. The dealer brought in a corvette yesterday that someone bought (I work at a gas station lol). Anyway, before filling it up, I made sure they filled it up with 93...I didn't say anything at first to see what they asked for but turns out, they asked for 93. I was happy and asked if I could drive it before they gave it over to the owner and he said no
