i need help this is my story: i traded my stereo for a header, i was told it is a performance header from GM, got it installed, the mechanic mentioned that it looked to be the same he even mesured the size of the holes, now im ok with having a stock header since mine was cracked but now im hearing a buzzing sound. now if this was a GMPP would i hear something different or it would be the same? i brought it back and the mechanic was like thats not an exhaust leak. please help i feel i got fucked in the ass by both parties

Its only a slightly ported stock header, so not really.

Like I mentioned in your last thread, and what Pyros just said....

You wont notice much of a sound change from it.

Back in the day when I had the GMPP manifold my car felt a little more peppy is all.

It felt a little stronger in the mid range at WOT when I had it.

Again, someone dyno tested it, and it produced about 4whp and 6wtq. Nothing crazy.

A header does not change the sound much on these cars (unless you install the JBP noodle).

The tone may get slightly deeper, but it is hardly noticeable.

When I removed my GMPP header and installed a Badmab shorty I didn't notice much of a sound change, but I def felt a decent bump in power in the mid - upper rpms.

Below is a pic of my old GMPP manifold. I thought I had a better pic with the part number visible, but I can't seem to find it. Notice the smooth collector area. Did you look at yours before you had it installed?

But to answer your question....

Yes, if you remove the heat shield you will be able to read the part number.

Still not the best, but at least you will know where to look for the part number.

whats the collector area? he showed me my old one this morning and noticed on the left intake was all weird and not just a simple tube entrance the performance one would have it closed off? (in your picture the left tube on top notice where there is somekind of outline)

I believe the part number stamped into the manifolds are exactly the same. It is very difficult to tell the difference between the GMPP and the stock exhaust manifold.

If someone is looking for a GMPP exhaust manifold they are better off taking a dremal to their stocker. My ported stock manifold is opened up more then my old GMPP manifold.

I could have sworn the part numbers were different when I had my manifolds side by side.

It's been a long time since I've seen either one, so I can't say for sure.

The collector area is where all the primaries (tubes) attach, and collect the spent exhaust gases.

The first photo I posted shows the outlet of the collector. It shows how smooth the inside of it is. The stock manifold is rough and has casting imperfections.

You might be right. I bought a "GMPP" manifold a few years ago. When it arrived, it had the same part number as the stocker and had been dremeled. I contacted the seller and he swore up and down that it was a GMPP manifold that he had dremeled to "opened up" the flow a little more. I think he was full of it! lol

The description states.

"19131972 Cobalt Extruded Honed Exhaust Manifold
We've taken the production LSJ exhaust manifold and had it Extrude Honed. The result - larger, smoother paths and a 7% airflow improvement for more power. Combine it with the Cat-Back Exhaust (sold separately) to provide the ultimate performance exhaust for your vehicle. "

So I do not think they manufacturer a new manifold where a different part number would be cast.

Fix it yourself!

I bet it is only a loose bolt or two.

You need to re tighten bolts on exhaust systems after a few heat cycles anyways.

He isnt looking for which header to purchase.

He is asking about his GMPP manifold he already installed.

I have the Badmab header on my car, and hardly heard any changes in my exhaust note by the way.
