Is there a way to lock the bypass valve open?

I was just thinking about this. Why didn't gm develop some way we could switch on performance. Say a switch to open the bypass valve at all times when we don't want boost and good fuel economy and at the flip of a switch goto full boost and power.

Is there a way now to lock open the bypass valve?

because its only there to limit boost on the stock tune so it didnt max out the injectors

IDK, but i think it's best to just get it tuned, and have boost limited in daily driving RPM ranges, then full boost above 4k or whatever.

you dont hit boost for regular daily drivng conditions unless you get into it a little. Im pretty sure the BBV is open some until you get into the throttle.

The ECU tells the bypass valve when to open and close correct?

yeah.. thats why tuning is a good safe solution. plus even with a performance tune, you will pick up at least 2mpg

yeah, so he's gotta be really on it all the time to be able to benefit from a mod like this. I say change your driving habits... or the price of gas will be the least of the worries. you'll be like "oh no, my axles, my clutch, and my #4 piston all broke at the same time!"

actually, a custom tune will alleviate a lot of issues and increase your gas milage.

i love the tune Denny has set up for me. 60#ers and 2.7 getting around 22mpg. Then i cut boost in first and jumped to 25 mpg as it wasn't wasting away in first gear.

it's do-able, but you're not really boosting in fifth @ that rpm. thats really just cruising. when it's simply maintaining speed, you're usually in vacuum mode.

It's called the gas pedal, when you want performance you push it down, when you want fuel economy you don't push it down as far

What about with a 2.8" pulley at that rpm?

well, logically, if you tune a car to make more power, it uses more fuel.
