There is .01" difference between 2.99 and 3.00. So little that your car will not know the difference. The Stage 3 pulley is 2.992125". Some people say 2.99" and others say 3". They are the same.
lol say that to GM I could see them not covering something like that with a warranty theyd say 76mm is different than a 2.99 lmao its the same stage 3 and stage 2 pulleys are different but yea i guess not by much...

As for Upgrading to stage 3..
All you need is the ECU and stage 3 pulley... look on crateenginedepot... look under individual stage accessories and get the pulley and stage 3 ecu... NOT THE KIT! unless of course you want the dual pass. but a heat exchanger will do more for the money which is much less. Don't forget nitrous wire hook ups

I guess it depends on how long you're at that high of a temperature. but still that seems pretty high

i find it funny that the stock fan settings have the fan come on at 230+ degree's.

my day and age in the dsm world. the head would start to warp at 230 when a popped headgasket would occur.

mine never see's over 196 now

i love fan control

damn... to bad the stage 3 is locked... owell i guess i'll be alright with the stock setup for a lil untill i can afford another heat exchanger. now the hard part is resisting the temptation of racing it

Your information is totally wrong. Your are going to tell me that the cobra exchanger that I just installed is going to do more for my IATs than a dual pass? You have lost your friggin mind! The dual pass from the research I have done on this site has brought temps down between 30-40 degrees. According to HP tuners and my car, the difference between have a stock exchanger and having a stock exchanger and a cobra was at most 20 degrees. Get the dual pass and be done with it!

actually the dual pass kills flow volume. your better off in the long run with a higher volume pump, and a fmhe

What you were thinking is that I wonder rather haul ass then look cool going slow lol! Well I just don't understand some of your thoughts sometimes... The point of the S3 ECU is to run the nitrous. So if you don't plan on running the nitrous don't bother getting it. Just get the S2 equipment just get the S3 pulley. I was running a 2.90 pulley from Nate for about 6 months with no problems other than rather warm coolant temps. GM sells the endplate rather than another H/E for a reason so I would just stick with whatever they do since they know the car better than anyone else

As an engineer I don't understand your post. Your telling me volume (aka inches cubed) is killed by the endplate. So to remedy that your going to get a higher volume pump (aka inches cubed/ velocity). First off from an engineering stand point how does the endplate kill volume? I understand that it will increase the volume of coolant flowing the system hence a loss of velocity and more stress on the coolant pump. And where can you even get a larger coolant pump from?

Nah, you took what i said the wrong way... I ment i wasn't going to spray as long as i don't have a heat exchanger or a dualpass. Also since i don't have the money for nitrous yet. But I def. plan on getting it. Thats why I'm getting stage 3 and not stage 2

To be honest with I'm suprised that more people have not thought of this. If your ultimate goal is to run GMS3 but you dont have the money for everything all at once there is nothing wrong with what you are trying to do.

You can buy all the neccessary parts and never have to take your car to the dealer or find a tuner. Then down the road you can add the NOS and cooling mods when you get the money.

Its a very creative way to get GMS2 (at first) and be ready for GMS3 down the road.

thanks man... I think stage 3 is some sweet **** lol and i didn't know why alot of people don't have it but think i thought well the fact alot of people use A/C in the summer could be a major reason and the fact that (not sure on this) it wont pass emissions.
It would be cool to have it pass emissions since the pcm doesn't throw a code because of the free flowing exhaust so its a possiblity as long as GM didn't put it so the emission machines recongize it Some with stage 3 elaborate on that... I know its not emissions legal but does that mean it won't pass when someone goes to do it... inspection is not a prob.
If so i'll hafta switch out the Downpipe, O2, and PCM lol wat a pain in the ass

With the GMPP Stage 3 ECM, you won't get a CEL for a catless downpipe!!
