Let hope..More traction...More rubber to the ground...Could mean the difference between wining and losing as well as it helps you on the track big time

If you've ever punched it and gotten wheel hop you would understand why this is a bad thing for the car and for the whole reason you punched it.

It is torque damper not dampener.

When you drive the stock motor mounts allow a certain amount of movement from the engine to give a smoother ride. This is good and bad. It is good because it reduces the vibrations felt from the movement of the motor. It is bad specifically on the cobalt because the engine movement causes wheel hop. Wheel hop is when the torque of the motor causes the tires to have less contact with the road causing them to lose traction then slam back down and grab traction then pull up and lose traction again, then repeat over and over. The wheel hop puts alot of stress on the transmission and axels causing cracks and other damage.

The torque damper reduces the amount of movement of the engine due to torque. This means that the engine does not move as much and you keep contact with the road evenly reducing or eliminating wheel hop all together. The downside to torque dampers is that they do cause the car to have more vibration which is especially noticable at idle.

I know this is an old post but is the torque damper better than the aftermarket motor mounts?

Motor mounts will help reduce wheel hop more than a torque damper will. With the torque damper you can adjust it to how stiff you want it. I chose torque damper instead of solid mounts because I don't want too many vibrations since it is my daily driver.

OTTP rotated mounts and solid upper mount and prothane tranny mounts will get you the same results. Solid mounts will make your car vibrate more, which is what I have. I prefer it though cause it feels like a race car. vibrations are not really bad, and as they break it they die down a bit. There actually not bad at all. Its whatever you prefer for the same end result. I still need the upper engine mount, just didnt get one yet

So is consensus that the rotated OTTP mounts offer less vibrations and more reduction of wheel hop than a torque damper?

We have tested our STOP mounts with our TTR upper and they work well together. Movement of the tranny mounts is very small, to align the axles.

You will have some vibs with our mounts, but vibs are directly related to have firmer mounts.
