TVS vs Ported M62

Could you port out a M62 to be up to par to a TVS?Or what i'm trying to say is,how would rate a ported M62(done by a professional)against a tvs?

A ported m62 will never compete with a tvs, no matter how good the job was done.

No comparison. TVS is the answer, ported m62 is not.

The TVS design is completely different and WAY more efficient. You're much better off with the TVS over a ported M62

I doubt it. TVS is 1.3l vs the M62 which is 1.0l. The TVS is able to push a lot more air than the M62.

That's about all I can say on this topic. I'll sit on the sideline and wait for someone with some TVS knowledge to chime in.

True, but a TVS is also the MUCH more expensive option. But, you get what you pay for. A ported M62 w/ a proper size pulley/cooling mods and some water/meth injection can still yield you some pretty impressive results.

Yes. But the LSJ will see the best gains from a ported head. That's where the biggest choke point on this motor is.

porting an m62 is a good option, but it wont compete with a tvs. not only is the tvs larger (1.3l vc 1.0l) it uses a different style of rotor. eaton calls it a tvs rotor, anyone who knows blowers well would call it a high helix. the rotors in the m62 are cut on a 60 degree twist (helix), were the tvs is actualy 160 degrees. this leads to a much more efficient blower, producing cooler charge temps, quicker responce and more airflow.

But for the price of all that you might as well not be cheap and buy a tvs. You will need cooling mods for both, exhaust, meth, 60's, pullies. just spend an extra 1800 and get a HUGE power and efficiency increase...

You get what you pay for...

Porting the M62 won't give you much in the way of gains. Eaton strongly recommends AGAINST porting of the M62.

They also say to never port the TVS. Just thought i'd say that so people don't get crazy ideas and screw up a 1800 dollar sc.

Wouldn't that be a mistake. TVS + Ported head, springs and a few other toys will be one bad ass balt. I'm eager to see someone do it. If tuned properly the TVS is putting down 330+ whp in the LSJ. I could only imagine with some motor work.

yeah i just ordered my TVS and im expecting or hoping for around 320 whp..with supporting mods of course but earlier someone said porting the head is ur best bet for power gains and efficiency and i couldnt agree more. with a TVS and ported head ur lookin at some good numbers and a quality flow rate

Make sure you have good exhaust flow. I think someone on here had a TVS with a stock downpipe and his EGT's got too high and grenaded his motor. Sadness...

I want to do that too, but I am going to do the motor work first before I go up to the TVS. I want to see what all I can squeeze out of the M62. I've always thought this blower can produce power into the 300's. So I'm gonna try it. Slowly but surely.

yeah I believe..luckily i have my cia downpipe and headers on the way also so i got that covered...im just hopin to have the money so that when i get the TVS in my hands i can get the head ported right away and then install the TVS as oppose to the opposite way around

grenading motor = depression
