valve spring install
#3
check out the lsj buildbook, its a goodson piece. but honestly, have fun doing so. I pull these apart and install all the time since i port them, the hard part is putting the keepers on, since they are so tiny and space is limited.

In A&P school (Aircraft Mechanic School) The instructor showed us how to replace a valve spring on an O-470 (Horozontal Opposed, 470CU Aircraft Engine) and I know car engines are VERY diffrent but the main principals are still the same so I dont see why this trick would NOT work on an LSJ.
Get a nylon rope with no frays on it.
Make sure the cylinder that your changeing the springs on is on compression stroke,
Remove the spark plug, and feed the rope into the cylinder then rotate the engine slowly
on compression, this will push the rope up against the inside of the valve face holding it closed
and keeping it from falling into the cylinder.
Then swap out the valve spring
Then rotate the engine backwards to take the pressure off and remove the rope.

or you can put a socket over it and hammer it good once and catch the valve before it falls and catch the spring retainers with your teeth... talent right there
putting the new ones on are going to be tough.

come to think of it, since this is an interferance engine,
If you put the piston on TDC on compression the valve wont be able to fall all the way into the cylinder before resting on the piston. Dont know if it will be high enough to grab or not though
