Vibrant Catback Install Question
Vibrant Catback Install Question
I have a buddy that just got his 3" Vibrant Catback today and we want to install this tonight. I have heard that the Vibrant exhaust you need to drop the rear suspension to get it over the axle to fit in? I have the GMPP Catback and it came in 3 pieces and was simple to install even with just jack stands, can someone who has this system shed some light on this??

Is it one piece, or 2 or 3. If its only on piece, you will have to either drop the rear suspension or cut it in one spot....If your lucky, with the car totally jacked up and try to fit it thru, but i doubt it will happen...
why not? all you do is take off the wheels, and take off ONE strut bolt on each side (the lower one). then the whole thing will come down. if it's in 2 pieces, that should give you more than enough clearance.
if you have no idea at all how to drop the rear suspension, and don't know anything about cars, and have zero mechanical knowledge, it shouldn't take more than 3 or 4 minutes to take those 2 bolts off. if you have a basic understanding of what a strut bolt is, it will take less time.

ya i know its not hard to do, just wondering how heavy that suspension is going to be, dont want to drop a couple hundred pounds of hanging suspension on either of us, the GMPP was easy to do, cut the stock exhaustjust before the axle and the new one fit in no problems

the gmpp is also 3/4" smaller though. who knows, you may not even need to lower anything.
I did mine last weekend. Here is the thing I found it hard on Jack Stands to get the long pipe over the rear support beam so I took the one bolt out of the Control Army Bushing and lowered the control arm down just enough so that I could fit the flange over the rear axle type thing. Make sure you can raise the CAB back up so that the bolt lines up with the holes on both sides. I believe the bolt is 15 mm and the nut was 18mm but don't quote me on that. It just takes a little elbow grease. The exhaust is really deep though. Hope this helps.
