1.) Dealer has to prove the aftermarket part caused the failure you are trying to warranty.
2.) Stick to GMPP parts if you are that worried about it, I.E. Stage 2

honestly, if you're serious about modding your car, warranty shouldn't be that big of an issue. depending on the dealer, anything can and will void the warranty. technically, nothing voids the whole warranty of a car. but if the dealer says that your lowering springs destroyed your engine because the angle was not stock specifications (this is a completely bogus situation, would never happen) you now have to get a lawyer to fight it. and remember that gm has better lawyers and more money than you do.
that being said, if warranty is a HUGE issue to you, leave it stock. otherwise find a cool dealer, and know your rights. keep in mind that if you're young, you won't get anywhere near as much leeway as if you're a little older. i got my ss/sc when i was 26, brought it to the dealer with a broken axle and a shattered cv joint, and i had stage 2, a 2.9 pully, and a few other things on the car. the guy hinted that he knew about the mods, but fixed the car anyways. if some little punk 17 or 18 year old kid went in bitching that they have to fix the car, i bet they wouldnt have.

That's how it's supposed to be, but from my friend's experience with the Saturn dealer around here, don't bank on it. His clutch felt unusually stiff, and they tried to refuse him service since the 'transmission fluid looked contaminated with the wrong weight fluid' - it only has 20k on it, and the reservoir has never been opened. He finally got them to flush the fluid and replace the slave cyl, and they said that if that still didn't fix the problem they would start charging for parts and labor. The car is completely stock. >_>
