This is what GM does to us SS/SC guys!
I am pissed that people are blowing up there engines. GM advertises the stock pistons can take 300 HP, no one is running over 300 HP and they are losing engines.... Warrenty I understand, the regional warrenty rep comes in and say no.
This sux ass.

This package has been DYNO PROVEN to produce 17 psi boost and up to 265 WHP and 260 WTQ.
Why would you run 300 hp with only pistons that are rated at 300hp?
why are people kissing GM's ass?? GM has tried to **** us all
I have already said it, and I'll say it again:
I went to the dealer to have some stuff looked at, ie: shifter knob fell off, clutch slipping, paint cracking on sideskirts, hood horribly misaligned
The master mech. of the shop told me that when people bring in cars with multiple problems, GM only allows them to fix one thing under warranty for each visit. That's right. If you come in with a burned out tail light, and a clogged cat, they will fix ONE, then send you on your way!

He also was running meth too. Engines love methanol but remember that you're adding something to compress too along with the air/fuel. The additional methanol could have increased the pressure enough to crack the ringlands too.
Under ideal conditions the pistons could last up to 300 crank HP, but your pistons could also fail with a bad tune at 200 horsepower!

When my camaro blew its rear end with 508 RWHP one dealer wouldn't touch it, another dealer fixed it under warranty because he wanted the business. Remember it's always who you know. Just find a cool dealer that you can be honest with and who will return the favor. If every single Chev dealership sucks in your area then try a Pontiac dealership, they can work on your car too. Heck even Saturn could work on your car!

Zinner - there are plenty of guys sucessfully running more 300 hp without a problems . If you look at the large scope , the failure rate for a LSJ shortblock on the more heavily modded cars has been miniscule

You reprimand this guy for trying to do exactly what you did?
What an ass.

He can try his luck by crying to GM and taking it to another dealer. Thats pretty much his last stand of hope. If he bitches enough, he might get it warrantied by another dealer. Right now, I'd say he's fucked.

GM has NOT tried to **** anyone. Get a better idea of how business works before you come here spouting off about how "GM is a mother ******, they won't warranty this, they won't stand behind my car when I slapped a 2.5" pulley on their stock and it ******* blew up.."
Like someone else pointed out, a dealership is a franchise. It is just a divison/entity of GM as a whole. If you have a problem with a dealership, then YES, you can bitch to GM about your problem. Then you can go to one of the other billion dealerships to have your car serviced.
This thread has gone to Hell in a hand basket. Most of you get how things really work. Some of you would rather bitch and moan. I understand that some of you have genuinelly gotten a bad wrap. Others have tried to pull a fast one. Those of you who have been honestly fucked over, then bitching is fine. However there are things you can do about it.
Those of you who are trying to "finance your racing career". Get a life. You know what you are trying to pull. When you get called out, deal with it....
BradyB is right on with his posts. Im not sure what he has attempted to get warrantied, nor do I really care, but he is dead on with everything he has posted so far in this thread.
People need to stop bitching and suck it up. If the problem is truly a defect in craftsmanship, you have a right to bitch. If you get shitty service, same deal. If you break something because of something that you did to the vehicle, then it is YOUR FAULT.

dude i agree 100% i'm just saying i don't race my car and if something broke i would take it back to the dealership and try and get it fixed and if they denied me i would try another. BUT in this case his motor is in 500 pieces and there are only 3 explanations i can think of and all three he is screwed on here they are...
1. another dealership took it apart and denied his warranty claim (in this case they will call the other dealer and find out why and most likely side with that dealer)
2. he took it apart (warranty is out the window!!!)
3. chop shop (nuff said)
dude just needs to stop crying and rebuild the motor

Like you said, as many others. He needs to lick his wounds and rebuild it himself. Unfortunately this **** happens. If he slapped it back together and took it to another dealer he would have better luck at getting it warrantied. Thats probably the only chance he has at warranty work on the motor now...

The only way aftermarket add ons would void a warranty is if the failure is caused because of the aftermarket part being aftermarket. They don't automatically void a warranty just because they are aftermarket accessories.
A blown up motor that was running any pulley but a complete dealer installed GM stg 2 WILL void your warranty on the engine , no way around that . Its clearly stated from day u purchased ur car .
i actually just asked my dealership today point blank..."if i buy a stage 2 kit and install it myself and bring it back for the reflash will it void my warranty?" their reply was this..."as long as it is installed correctly it will be covered...but...if you install something wrong like put the pully on crooked and screw up the supercharger you are liable for the damages and it will not be covered." they told me like 80 bucks or less for the reflash
I'm trying real hard to read thru this thread but it's hard to get around all the bitching and the bull shitting and crap.
Simply put: GM and Chevrolet built these cars to be SPORTCmpact Cars to compete with SRT4' and Civic Si's and other Sport Compact Cars. The problem is that people like to use thyeir cars for what they were built for. Performance. And Dealerships are in the business of making money. There is nomoney in warrenty work. At least not in the work in itsself. My own dealership were being dicks when I got my exahust. They were freaking out about Warrenty and ****. lol... IO just smiled and walked away. The dealerships that don't dick ppl around are the ones that are in for the long haul and future business. The ones that do sick ppl around won't last long because they're losing business with every customer turned away or treated poorly.
All in all, if you don't respect you car by pushing it beyond it's limits then it brakes, HELL NO GM shouldn't warrenty your stupidity!! That's your fault, not GM'sCars donot grow when you push them. Only ppl can do that. However, if your car broke and you were just going to work then that would be a manufacturur's defect and by law your car will be under warrenty.
You gotta pay to play hard. But you did pay for a fun car to plar with. Unfortunatly there is little black or white in reality when it comes to warrenty stuff. Just a whole lot of BS grey.
