no i havn't used octane booster yet in my car. someone on here said he uses octane booster every fill up. i was curious if it was safe or not.
where do you live, aren't you in jersey? here in north jersey we don't have 86 0r 88, and 91 is hard to find. it's 87 89 and 93 pretty much eveyrwhere.
i cant afford octain boost every fill up any way. but i have been cheap by putting plus in it. i didnt think the car needed premium. but i was reading up on them and it says thats the required fuel. is it ok for me to switch up now.
yes, it's ok to switch. don't cheap out, going from plus to premium is what, maybe 1 or 2 dollars/tank? if you use plus, you'll be ok as long as you're totally stock and don't get on the car. if you drive it hard you will get knock. it's just not worth the risk to save a buck or 2.

yep, should be good. i would look up octane and what it actually means, and how it affects an engine. most people don't really understand what octane means, and what it does. to keep it short, the higher the octane, the harder it is to ignite. that's pretty much it as far as the basics go. so, using too low an octane for the car, the gas is igniting early. that's why you get knock.

well, if your engine is knocking you will hear a kind of "pinging" sound. it's not literally sounding like a knock. you may not even hear it at all. but it's really bad, and can destroy your engine.
well i dont know. i hope i stopped it in time to not get any problems. i've been on a rollercoaster ride with my car ever sense i got it. and i'd hate to give it back again. it went once because the dealership didnt put any oil in it..and the second time i hit a dear. out of the 2 months i had the car. i only had it to drive for 3-4 weeks. but i put premium in last night and i already feel a differance.. thanks guys
Everything ive seen "recommends" the use of 91+ octane... it is not necessary as long as the vehicle is not modded. I myself use 87 commuting in my ss/sc. Although on fridays my "low fuel" warning message usually appears and I put 91+ for the weekend. Good stuff!! I also reset my fuel economy meter every tank, and idk if I recall correctly but highway/city mileage with higher octane is better.
