The 2.4 SS reccomends 91 octane however you can run 87 with decreased performance. I don't think it will hurt as much using 87 in the 2.4 versus using 87 in the LSJ. I'm not sure what the compression ratio is on the N/A SS.

ummm... because you have a stage 3 cobalt and shouldn't have been running plus, so you were losing performance. and probably had some nasty knock.

Jesus Christ. I'm blown away by the number of people that buy these cars, and don't know what the **** an octane rating is.
The general consensus here is that BIGGER NUMBERS means better fuel and more power.

Run what your manual tells you to run for crying out loud! Putting premium in an LT is retarted, putting 94 in an SS is abject stupidity and running a stage 2 over 92 octane will result in performance gains that are proportional to the weight of your wallet.

94 octane in an ss is not abject stupidity.
they recommend premium for the 2.4 SS as well

but i know what your saying.

its frustrating when people pay THOUSANDS of dollars for the higher performance trim of a car,
and cant afford to give it the fuel it needs.

Looks like 29 people need to trade in their SS or SS/SC for an LT

i doubt it.
you wont (shouldnt) be knocking at an idle.

what your hearing is probably just the typical ecotec noisiness.
our S/C is also known for makin a bit of noise too.

93 from Mobil every time, no matter what and from the Mobil around here where Mobil trucks fill the tanks.

I am ******* shocked to see that there is over 34 people that have said they use regular unleaded. You all should not own this car and do you realize its only around $2.25 more to fill the whole tank. Save yourself the redbull and fill the danm tank with premium, your LSJ will love you that much more and last that much longer...

Sunoco 93. My car was tuned on it, that's what I'll use from now on. Nothing else.
