Theres guys running that or more in timing with no meth or race gas, O.o

Glad ya figured out the issue OP, Good luck fixing!

Sooo since when can an lsj on 91/93 octane run 22 degrees of timing without knock without meth? I want to see this "factory freak" lol.

edit: are they knocking is the question lol....

Taking the car to the dealer tomorrow to see what the wanna do.. if they dont want nothing to do with, im going to just put a lifter in it. just so i have the car for super nats this coming weekend. but after the super nats i will probably order cams, valve springs, and have the local machine shop port the exhaust outlets.

This sounds familar. Happened to my SS back over a year ago when the car was my x bfs.. Two rockers popped out and one lifter was shattered. Add that to the already blown #4 piston and cracked ringlands on the #3. The SS still managed to limp home, lol.

his car still ran solid and smooth. idle was still perfect, no hesitation through out the powerband, just fell on its face in the top end.

No knock.. Sacrificing a Rich Air Fuel Ratio to run more degrees of timing so.. Its not uncommon at all.

hmmm my car didn't like it even running extremely rich lol, every machine is different though i guess. I needed meth before i could really unleash it.

edit: how does an ingalls set off KR? Mine never did, especially not a 12 degree spike.

me and boostedyards86 were logging one day with hp tuners, and at like partial throttle i was getting like in upwards of 12 degrees of kr, so we ran back to his house took off the damper, got on the highway to tune and threw 20 degrees of timing at it without meth, long story about how we found out that it was causing the knock sensor to go off

no knock even on a 4th gear pull or was 4th untested? A lot of people forget the importance of load testing 4th gear a time or two "just in case".

we were street tuning so theres not much room to do a 4th gear pull even on a road as big as 376 west

I hear ya, but even if you shift from 3rd at 5grand into 4th and keep into it sometimes you will get unaccepted knock that you wouldn't see in 3rd gear.

Not uncommon. I see that alot. Mine did it with the ingalls, and with poly mounts. modification FAIL.

You got lucky sir! When that happened to my first motor, the valvetrain drove into my pistons and that was that.
