Whipple 1.6L, Checking interest
Whipple 1.6L, Checking interest
Ladies and gentlemen, I've been contacting Whipple, for the past month. and i've got some good news. Their is a great possibility of them producing the 1.6L Twin Screw Unit. the unit is the W100AX. this kit would be for the power hungry, the one that still wants the supercharger whine.
As of now there are still no set prices, I'm waiting for an e-mail from the co-owner of the company about possible prices, hopefully i'll know something tomorow. but if we get enough interest and enough people that are down to actually get this then I have no doubt in my mind they will reproduce the kit again, and possibly direct bolt on for us cobalt ss s/c's.
here are the previous specs of the kit when they had it out a few years back.
Description Liters Max RPM Max CFM Max PSI Peak VE Peak AE
W100AX 1.6 18,000 997 32 98 80

The Lysholm 1600AX won't fit on the Rebel's current plates as the inlet and outlet are completely different, so I assume this will be the same deal. The snout should work though, but don't quote me on that.
EATON TVS is 24000 max rpms. TVS PWNS all. And the 1.32 ltr is about as big as you want to go on a 4 cylinder. 1.6 ltr seems like a bit much. I'm not sure you'd make a whole lot more power as it would probably rob more power.
Feasibly the 1.6L twinscrew should be able to crank out more CFM's than the TVS does, however I would need the compressor maps to confirm this. As for the power consumption, I'm not to familiar with what it takes to spin the 1.6L either. It shouldn't be that much more power in comparison the the CFM's it should be able to push out though.
