I just put on the zz performance header and downpipes on my cobalt SS and I am getting a pretty odd sound from them.

when the car idles I hear a clicking type sound, almost like there is a leak where the header meets the motor or where the header and downpipes meet. When i press on the gas, even as small of a jump as 500RPM it stops.

Anyone with the ZZ performance headers and downpipes have this problem? or is it really not a problem and how it should be

 

did you use that shitty looking paper gasket thing they send? i reused the stock one. also, check the bolts. ZZP bolts have been known to suck...

 

it's common with their shorty header downpipe combo. I think it's the way the air travels through the flex pipe. I had the same noise, but it went away when I changed out the flex pipe. Also mine didn't have any leaks, but did make the noise.

 

what did u replace the flexpipe with?

 

Another 3inch flex pipe. The original blew up, I'd recommend a torque dampener to stiffen up the engine, and ease the stress on the downpipe and flexpipe.

 

where did u get your flex pipe at?
