zzp connecting rods

has anyone here installed zzp connecting rods?

im just building my motor and i was just going to check my clearances and went to install the connecting rods to check with plastigage and when i went to go put the bearings in they dont match up. The slots for the bearings are different the stock. It looks like everything else measures up fine..... any one have any experience. Do i need a different bearing set or they just cut wrong and i got 4 paper weights

the thing your talking about is called a "tang"! Its not un common to have to modify them when using stock bearing sets with aftermarket rods. Post pics so we can see if its even able to be modified to work or if it wont work at all.

dont consider em paper weight's just yet..

dont need to be a sarcastic di ck, they dont look like they can even be machined to allow them to fit. I will take a pic to show you what i mean.

there deep enough, it just forces one half of the bearing to the one side of the rod and the other half(capside) to the other side. both side are still within the rod but its just not centered. I just cant see it being propoer to have them offset but 1mm of eachother. I also cant see maching it working either but im going to machine shop tomorrowfor my head to get decked and a valve job so will take these in as well.

just an fyi yours will be the same, im still in talks with them to find out what exactly can be done. Sounds like there engine guy said it would be ok, but i took it to the machine shop doing all my work and they said it should line up, they said they could fix them but it will cost me another 200-300 probably. Will see what happens when i talk to tim with ZZP tomorrow. They have been good to talk to about the issue and new about it and its being fixed on future rods. still would like to hear if anyone else on the forum has installed zzp rods.
maybe buy some bearings and check yours as well.

good news is i have evrything else done, head is ported, its in getting a 3 angle valve job and decked. Pistons are ready to be installed and all rings gapped. Once i get my rods figured out i will be able to put everything back together.
