07 tuning?

Ok, i asked in another thread (not my own, but it was brought up then it got locked) if tuning had come out for the 07s or something? I keep seeing in different threads where people want to do this or that and have 05s or 06s and people say "Unless you have an 07+ you have no tuning, your screwed unless you go piggyback" and stuff like that, so...did i miss something here? Is tuning (besides piggyback) out for the 07s and i some how didn't hear about it or is this just speculation that in the future 07+ will have tuning?

well from what I've seen anyways, yes. The E37 32-bit is supported by HP Tuners, and if I remember at least one other company.

the PCM itself is supported, however, HPT has not released software to edit it in a Cobalt yet. so we cant change parameters...only log them. People usually say this because 07 support was supposed to arrive very fast since the PCM is already cracked. however...for one reason or another, HPT is taking their sweet time

Cool, hearing this just made my shitty week alittle better, i swear somewhere between my truck acting up, my cell phone breaking, my car getting hit and my computer killing my internet right after i posted this thread (i am on my mom's laptop now, my computer has been acting up for awhile) and my ipod getting stolen (all within this past week!) i was just about ready to give up on any extra expense.

05-06 is supported...the 07 isn't...there is no tuning available for the 07...that is the hang up i'm on...i can't go turbo and do an ecu reflash/programming unless i go piggyback...so no 07 programming

the 05-06 is just the canned tune from sct with the turbo kit, supposedly the 07 will get support from hpt but idk for sure.

If the 2007's get tuning I'm going to be pretty bummed. I wonder how feasible it would be to swap out PCM's from an 05-06 to an 07. I know its not as simple as a direct swap, but I wonder how much work it'd actually be. I mean its for the most part the same car the 07's just had a few changes that I know of. Maybe if 07 tuning is released it'd be possible to modify an 2007 PCM to work on an 05-06 and then do a swap. IDK though just thinking outloud here.

HPT doesn't support the 07 ECU...they say that they might...but it's not a for sure thing...PCM swap between the 05-06 into an 07 probably won't work...GM added somethings on the 07 engine that aren't in the 05=06 (such as cam position sensors, and about a 3hp gain over the previous ecotech l61 engines)

If it were a honda they would be all over it. Being a Domestic means you get crap usually.

True, but would it be possible to take an 07 PCM (assuming one day we can tune it) and "turn off" the cam position sensors, etc?

well, if you can make your car disregard reads regarding SAI and change your fuel cut off and redlines, etc... im damn sure you can take off cam positioning (its just a sensor, your car's computer doesn't have to read it if its not programmed to) but the problem lies if any of the important sensors are changed or if they have different codes,etc...

you can try it but i seriously doubt you can unless you are a car computer programming expert lol

in theory you can...but it would be complicated...plus i would imagine that the 07 ecu/pcm won't be backwards compatable with the 05-06 ecu/pcm just because of the changes GM made with the computer and the engine...if you look into the engine bay of an 05-06 you will see one set of wires going to the pcm...if you look at the 07 you will see two sets...

I see what you guys are saying, and I agree it'd be difficult to pull off. I guess I'm just a little jaded by my VW/Audi friends, those guys are able to swap out PCM's between different cars/years like its nobody's business. If only GM didn't change the PCM the 05/06 crowd wouldn't be in such a rut.

I'm curious to see what Halfcent and NJHK have to say about this, but I don't think they even read any threads int he 2.2 section with tuning in the title lol.

I asked them if they plan on releasing tuning for the 07+ 2.2s anytime soon and the reply they sent me was
"no."
So screw it, i'm done caring about that crap, because it is never going to happen. When i get close to going f/i i will just do a **** load of research on the smt-6 and go with that.

I might just sit back and pay attention to what you do then I just know that the smt-6 has been used successfully but then again that was on a different ecm (though it still works the same i believe.)
