2.0 PCM on 2.2 Cobalt....

Since 2.2 L Cobalt aren't supported by Hptuners

Is it possible to use the 2.0 L Cobalt PCM on 2.2 CObalt and now tune it?

The short answer is no, but I'll let someone who knows a helluva lot more about both engines/PCMs explain the long answer....

Short version: The 2.0's computer cannot communicate with the other modules installed in a 2.2.

So there is no other solution or PCM that could be used?

Piggyback systems have been used widely for the 2.2s for quite a while, that's how all the turbo applications are tuned.

Yes there is, we just dont have the luxury of using HPT. I guess its a drawback we must deal with. We paid less, so we get harder tuning. What a trade! lol

when i looked into this in my 2.2, i was told what witt said. there are a bunch of different modules that all communicate with each other. if one doesn't communicate, they all don't work.

No engine in it, waiting on some more parts to come in and the forged engine is done. But it was running just fine, it was a blast.

the 2.2 ecu uses a CAN bus style architecture, whereas the 2.4and 2.0 ecu's dont, making them unable to communicate with just about every sensor in the car

they're all completely different parts. i would guess you couldn't do that for the same reason why you couldn't just swap parts with a totally different car, like civic, that has tuning. but i'm sure someone with more experience and knowledge about this can chime in.

that being said... it's possible, you just have to swap all the sensors, tcm, pcm, etc. I'm not sure if things like the abs control module, p/s module, evac control module, srs, etc would work if you did manage to do it.

long story short, it would be so much of a pain in the ass and cost you so much that you might as well just throw an lsj in your car and save yourself alot of headache.

exactly. all that work, and for what. just for the ability to tune? you don't even gain anything from swapping out all those parts. your car will be just as fast as it was before. and what are the turbo guys putting out, a little over 200 whp? it's just a **** load of work for 80 hp.

actually just the swapping alone will make your car run like ****. The tune on the 2.0 won't work for our 2.2s. You would have to add the cost of a tuning device AND tuning just to make it run right.
