2.2 engine

iam looking to putting another engine in my 06 2.2 cobalt what year engines can i use i picked up a 07 but it has a cam sensor and the valve cover is different mine dont will that make a difference and a engine out of a automatic work with a stick cause mine is a 5 speed

how do you tell what you have like i believe a cobalt engine is different then a cavalier 2.2 even though there both ecotec

Pretty sure all the bottom ends are the same so the 06 vs 07 dosent matter just use your old head.
I think the cavalier had a power steering pump on the one cam so that should be easy to tell

you can only use a 06 or older l61 the 07+ have a a 58x reluctor wheel on the crank, you could just ignore the cam position sensor

how about the crank is the same on a auto vs manual do i haft to buy a motor out of a 5 speed cause that is what mine is

That won't mater. I you get one from an auto you just take the flexplate off and put your flywheel and clutch on

k all i need to do now is find one out of a 05 or 06 the first 3 letters that are on the bar code on the valve cover said TAX on my engine

ok thanks i have a friend thats not going to build . i have a 08 im going to build. i'm going to use his 07 block just wanted to make sure it would work. can i use the crank in the 07 as well ? this way my car want have to sit around in a shop. i didn't no you could take the motor out from the top i was going to do it at my house, need lift to make it easy.
