You're trying to find out how much HP the L61 makes?

the weak point of the engine is that rods, rated at 250 hp using a shot of nitrous by GM. But thats just hearsay. I will look for the link you're talking about.

The 250 for the rods is from the 2.2 GM build book. And the nitrous statement is based off what GM considers a "safe" nitrous shot for the stock internal l61

Seriously no.

This was for one with a dry shot of nitrous...that makes a big difference. The rods went due to a catastrophic detonation. There have been multiple people with L61s that have ran upwards of 300 WHP and guess what goes? Piston ringlands....not their rods.

i was just stating the "hearsay" thats all, but the rods are still a weak point for this engine the L61 and you know that.

No, I don't lol

Listen, I've been following the L61s since 2003 when I had one...guess how many broke rods? I can count them on one hand and have fingers left over and those guys had rods go through the block...not the rods snap in half. Pretty much everyone who blows a ECOTEC in general, they blow a ring land. Thats the first thing to go.

The GM breaking a rod is the only one I've heard of. I know someone who was pushing 250-275whp (at a mile high, so a little more at sea level) and only bent the rods a bit (he pulled to motor to build it, and was like well **** I'm lucky)

personal opinion is pistons, rods and sleeves. i had pistons and rods and my car took a beating of 22 psi from a 60 trim turbo and meth injection and a aggressive ass tune. eventually my 3rd gear started goin out and my sleeves cracked......just my 2 cents

out of what turbo? 12 psi in a t25 is different then 12 psi out of a gt35. you gotta look at the volume of air being pushed from the turbo

gonna go with the ZZP turbo probably. or use a t3/t4 turbo with .60 trim

(still new to the FI world. so not tooooo familiar with everything yet)

Before you buy anything, have a good understanding on how Engine Management Systems work, how forced induction works (beyond turbo makes air) and how fuel injection systems work. Buying a kit or not, you're going to suffer because there will be issues and challenges and if you don't know what your setup is supposed to look like or how things work so you can properly troubleshoot them, then you're going to get stuck.

I can recommend some books and give you write ups I've made.

Also, the t3/t4 design is as old as me being in high school...seriously look into a newer design like the GT series from Garrett. Buy a brand new turbocharger, don't skimp out.
