2.4 crank in a 2.2?

As some of you guys may already know, I pretty much live for American V8 power and engine building is a hobby that runs in my blood. Well with older V8s one of the easiest ways to pick up some power is to pull a crank out of a larger displacement motor. I know the bore is larger on the 2.4 as well, but will the 98mm crank fit?

I've looked into this befoore but couldn't find anything conclusive. I think the bearings/caps and seals are larger on the 2.4 though.

why do all that. when you can just swap a 2.2 with a 2.4

They Have Different Crank Triggers, They Will Swap But Your Ecm Will Not Support It

Because switching the crank ups the displacement without having to get a whole new motor, that is the point of crank swapping. To put it in terms of a V8s: what I proposed is equivalent to putting a 400 crank in a 350 to create a 383, but you told instead of buying a crank (around $300) to go out and buy the entire 400 motor (a couple grand). So to answer why I would do all that: because it is a cheap way to up displacement without going out and spending big cash on a whole new block.

Thanks, I was worried about that. I will check into a bit more when I get the chance.

I like enzo thoughs

EX: 350 block + 400 crank =383 stroker(my camaro engine)

maybe be the same for 2.2 block with 2.4 crank, if you can fix the ECU to work properly

This is not new idea, and in the 4-cylinder arena, it's just not as feasible as with V-8's. The amount of work necessary to get it operate outweighs the costs. It is in fact cheaper to just trade the car.

I think it would be a 2.3L, it comes out to like 2.97-something liters.
