so the middle seal that blocks off the opening when you do a 2.4 manifold swap to a 2.2 what does that seal do? i know it blocks if off but what if you dont have it?

I was wondering the same thing about 3 weeks ago when i received my 2.4l IM swap. The kit didn't come with the crank seal so I had to buy one from gmparts website. I'm not sure exactly what it does but I do know you can't block it off because it is some sort of a vacuum seal. Basically I tried it without the seal to see how it would effect my car and my car totally ran like ****. It acted just as if a vacuum hose was unhooked. So if you're planning on getting the kit or already have it plan on also purchasing the crank seal as well as it doesn't come with the zzp kit only the CED kit (don't quote me on CED but it's in their picture)
