[QUOTE=lil_kano;2316501]Hmm....thats wierd because those are the symptoms of having the 2.4L TB. But I pull my TB off all the time (like every oil change) and clean it very well and have never thrown any codes.[/QUOTE

Do you actually just remove the throttle body completely and unplug it entirely? And if you do , do you also unplug the negative terminal from the battery? Those can cause it too...especially if when it's first reintroduced with the ECU...it will throw those codes...but if you clear them and let the car run for a few minutes after clearing them (assuming that the car doesn't throw them at you again) then the computer will "learn" that sensor.

But for me, i think it was just a bad connection, so when it threw the codes, i cleaned the connectors, cleared the codes, and started it up and it's been fine since......

the 2.2 and the 2.4 TB are essentially the same...same electronics, but one is slightly larger than the other....it seems to me that most people that are experiencing problems with the 2.4TB on the 2.2 engine is just that...the ECU and MAF aren't compensating yet for the additional air flow...so the codes must be cleared and the ECU taught how to handle the increase in air...

and what i did when i did the 2.4mani install is also take my 2.2TB and ported/polished it so that may have been a factor as well....

but anyway it goes once the computer figures it out..then you are money...i haven't had a problem since....now we will see again after i pull the TB off yet again and do the final honing inside of it....but when i do that...i'll be sure to make a video of it or something like that....

I've been pulling my TB off quite frequently while trying to polish it, and haven't had a problem with any codes. I don't even bother to touch the battery. IDK maybe your car is just touchy with the TB. Mine hates my intake. lol

it was only once that it threw codes...so i think that it's already set as far as being able to take off and on...at any rate though i can just clear the codes and go about my business

Will the 2.2 TB fit on the 2.4 Intake Manifold?

Are you sure about this? I remember back when this was a new thing, I think the first test car was an 05. I'd look into this a little more...

Isn't there an adapter included?

I was under the impression that if you had an 05-06 you could buy the kit from crate engine depot, which includes the manifold, all the gaskets, the hose, and the adapter and you would have everything you need.

Am I wrong, has something changed with what they include now? Or do the newer cars use the same throttle body (at least as far as mounting holes goes) as the 2.4?

Yeah you can buy the kit and everything is included. However if you just buy everything seperatly you need an adapter....Plus everything seperetly saves you like 70 bucks.

WOW! I didn't think ced would charge more for parts bundled together. They have always treated me great, and that sounds pretty shady.

He "saved" money by not including the intake gaskets, hose, and plate (plate he needs though). CEDs kit has everything you need to make it a clean install -- includes the gaskets just in case you have a bad gasket or damage one while removing them.
Never hurts to be prepared -- and that is what the CED kit really provides.

CED does offer a "clean" kit...but for people looking to save money...it's better to put the kit together yourself...

the "gaskets" are not gaskets at all...just rubber seals...you can reuse them unless you completely tear one up or it's bad to begin with....the only one you need to order because you can't reuse is the PCV Seal...which i posted in another thread a sort of "how to" on putting together a kit for cheap...

the brake booster line to me is a waste of 70 bucks...it's rubber...nuff said....

you can goto autozone and get 1/2" heater hose with a 1/2" double male barb and hose clamps to achieve the EXACT function....trust me...i've done it...and it looks good...not ghetto engineered....just make sure it has a decent thickness..

as for that TB adapter....yes i still have it...and i'll still sell it...just send me a PM and i'll give you a price on how much i want for it...hell...i may fire up the machines at work and make like 20 of them or something along with gaskets..but don't know..kind of in the middle of separating from the military right now..so don't know...but i do know that i am going to take measurements and what not for it so once i can...i will mass produce them along with gaskets and sell them cheaper than CED....

i will also say that once i'm established in NC (working) i will be putting together inexpensive 2.4 Manifold Kits for the cobalts...and i am working a package deal with Vince to include tuning for it as well...So that nobody gets confused...that means you will have the option to just buy the kit for like 150-170 (depending) or buying the kit with tuning for 375-400 (again depending on the market)...also if i get a few machines that i require...i will be researching exhausts, etc. and offering packages and deals to people....that will include pretty much any car...but i have to be really established before i do that....

and the reason i can do this is because i am a Certified Welder, and i do have Journeyman Machinist papers...so i can do that no problem....

and to clarify....YOU DO NOT NEED THE TB ADAPTER FOR THE 2007 COBALT....Just for year models 05/06...Enjoy!!

so if anybody has any other questions....shoot me a PM and i'll answer it!!

No one with an 08 2.2 has done it and posted the attempt yet on CSS.net. Need someone with an 08 to be the first to try it and report the results.

There were some dyno tests done and if memory serves me the HP gains were between 7 and 15 HP @6-6.5K RPM. On one dyno test Mid Range torque dropped 2 lbs ft but gained it back in the higher RPM (not 2 lbs ft below stock specs, 2 lbs ft below the torque made with I and E).

Yep. Sounds about right. Gain a bit more with a tune also.

hey guys keep in mind that test was done with the gmpp sport catback. that means with a header/dp combo and a good catback you should really see some better gains.

No doubt as long as everything works together.

The 2.4 manifold by itself -- with no other power bolt-ons -- is not a good idea.
