it wouldnt be worth it

theres an electronic device you can get to stiffen you shifts up...you will do just as well on the track as an average manual driver or better

im sure somone with an auto can help ya on the name of the shift improver, as i cant think of it

It would probably be cheaper to trade it in for a manual.

If you want a manual, trade your car in for one. Seriously. It would be cheaper.

Along with what everyone else said, a move like that is only worth it on older cars where the parts can be found readily and cheap or on a car that has been worked on and owned for a while. I did it once and it was a lot more trouble then I thought worth.

hurst makes a kit that makes shifts in a auto alot better ( so i hear) but i hear its also bad on the trany. you can also tune some cars to take out some of the holdback betwen shifts.

My advice is to just trade it in for a manual. Why didn't you just get manual in the first place?

if you want to change your auto to manual just trade it in. i was going to do the same thing so i talked to my parts department and the techs and they said it usually costs like around 3 grand for the transmission. then you have to buy the clutch the master cylinder and all this other bullshit. so it will be around 4500 to 6000 grand to acutally be done. so i was like **** that. i'd rather turbo my car for that much. **** i will go buy another cobalt with that money. so the smarter way is to trade it in.....

Its a bitch to swap out a tranny...we did it on a 2nd gen Cav before...not fun. But I had this shift kit thing on my Cav Z24 and I loved it. Definitely made the fun much more fun to drive.
