Cams?

So, I couldnt really find if anyone has swapped cams on a cobalt that has the sensors. I have read that its not really worth it, so if I had adjustable cam gears could I use those to help move my powerband up?

It's not a mater of power band, it the reluctor(sp) that has to be installed on the end of the camshaft so the sensor works.

So what companies/people can install this reluctor onto the Comp Cam correctly? I have been digging for this info as well and have come up dry.

Pretty much you have to go to a machine shop and get then to do it. That's what I recall...
I have an 06 so I tend to ignore the 07 up cam questions...

Oh....is it some sort of redundancy sensor? If it's nothing really critical, I don't see why it's there then? I am guessing HPT can get rid of it?

its a cam position sensor. from what i understand its only used when it starts up? could be wrong though. But I talked with vince once and he had said he can tune them out.

Yes but if you tune it out then it will take your car a lot longer to start. Its not a huge problem but if its your daily driver it can get damn annoying. ZZP is supposed to be making cams for the 07-08 2.2 but they are probably busy with stuff that can make them more money right now lol. Otherwise you have to get it pressed on at a machine shop.

Is there any type of detailed info on how this process is done? How would one go about marking how it is indexed on the oe cam and then the comp cam?

Could always just get the cams re-ground. Theres a few companies out there who can re-grind cams without changing the base circle.
