Did you go with OEM or Darton sleeves? How do ya plan to swap the sleeves in without yanking the block?

Just OEM. Maybe in a year or so when i turbo i will darton it but no money for that now. And for replacing sleeve with engine in car: http://www.enginebuildermag.com/Arti...c_engines.aspx

there is a shop somewhere nearby that will do that (guy from work knows owner n talked to him for me already)

Ok, cool. I remember seeing that tool in the shop manuals, but never seen it used. Always just took block to machine shop, didn't think a shop would want to do it any other way.

Sounds good, keep us updated.

i remembrer the old edition of the build book had a part number for high strength nodular iron liners

Wonder if these can be installed using this method or if they still need the same heavy machining as Darton's

The engine block is a production Original Equipment (OE)
block casting with high strength liners installed. The
production liners are machined out and thick-walled,
nodular iron, high-strength liners are installed (part number
88958681). The stock bore size is maintained.
EDIT : hum looks like it is the whole block with fitted liners
Production Engine block with High-Strength Sleeves 88958681 GM Performance Parts

Shame it looks like it is not available anymore
