coolant temp
My car usually runs at 172-178. I've hit 184 on the highway, but it was 90 out. Only hit 190 once, but it was rush hour and a 92 degree day. I live in Michigan though and only have the 2.2L so not sure if that makes a difference.
its funny I said people with ASE may know it in theory but can't apply it to the field, theory is always in a perfect condition. and also i am neither of those 2 people you clam to say ASE doesnt mean anything. I have had ASE certified guys that have serious issues with anything that doesnt have a answer in a book, and i've have ASE certified guys that know what they're doing. Which is why i didnt want to discredit all ASE guys.
A lot of it depends on how much the person actually cares about their job.

I definitely agree with the last part. To me, the ASE, ASEP, and GM certifications are a matter of pride, and a reflection of what I put into my job.
I said many and not all for that very reason. There are some people who just don't feel the need to take them, and that's fine.

I am 100% certified for GM in brakes, HVAC, steering/suspension, electrical, drivetrain/axles, automatic transmission, and manual transmission. Once I get the rest of my ASE tests out of the way I will have them too, those tests are expensive. I just passed the GM Mark of Excellence test for suspension/steering and am working on becoming Master certified.
