Direct port

Once again im at work looking at all the things im debating buying for my car. I see direct port nitrous kits and what not, but i don't see anyone here who actually uses them...I was just curious as to why? Is there anything wrong with them? hard to install?

Direct port systems are used for higher shots because it spreads the nitrous better between all cylinders.

I understand how they work

Im asking why no one does it. seems like a direct port set to 75hp to start would be your best bet. then you could up the shot as you built your motor, if you wanted to.

stock engine can handle 75shot according to the GM build book..most choose wet kit over direct port prob b/c its cheaper and unless you're building a drag racin car you prob wouldnt go over 75 shot anyways, even with a mild-built engine.

wet kit can also be uninstalled somewhat easily so if you had to do some major warrantee work, you can uninstall, let gm work on it, then reinstall. correct me if im wrong, but once u go direct port, there's no turning back..

edit: u shoulda posted this in the Nitrous section anyways..

because theres no need to...a single fogger setup is more than efficient enough to run a 75 shot of nitrous.

theres no need to go direct port until you're running around 125 shot and there are no stock motors that can handle a 125 shot.

well from the look of the DP kit, you can just unplug the harness that your normal injector plugs into and it would actually be a cleaner uninstall than a wet kit.

What im asking is if im going to be disappointed when I get a wet shot and put it on and then say 2 years down the road i build my engine up to handle a 150 shot or something and then I have to spend another 900$ for nothing.

doubt you'll be ever build it to handle 150shot...look in the GM Build Book..i dont have it on hand, but you'll prob have to spent $2,000+ on internals to hold that kind of nitrous, not to mention you'll end up with a car that will run like CRAP w/o Nitrous ;(

If you want a drag car..go buy the 1400whp Ecotec Engine for sale in the FS section

I honestly don't really want to / try to. If it hadn't been posted in the parts dept, I probably wouldn't have brought it up til December that I purchased the engine, when most everything will be done. But now that the word is out I guess...I'll keep you up all up to date.

Sorry not trying to thread jack...

As for direct port, you won't find too many people really willing to do the necessary requirements to do the project. Like someone has already stated, direct port is great for much higher shots instead of a simple 50-75 shot.
