Electric cutout question.

Ive been thinking about getting an electric cutout for a while now. My main question is, where does everyone else have theirs? Ive talked to Ionfeight, as he's the only one I could think of off the top of my head who had one, and he ran his where the downpipe was. The thing is, I have yearly emissions here, and I need the cat. I can no longer inspect my own car so this has to be "legal".

My Camaro's was under the rear seat, before the over-the-axle pipe.

Yea, I was hopeing to put it somewhere in there, but Ion said on his ion, that the only real place that wouldnt be a bitch was where the downpipe was. Id be all for that, but i no longer work in a garage, so I cant "inspect" my own vehicles anymore. Plus I havent been under my car in a while, and dont know exactly how big the QTP cutout is.

QTP...hmmm...

Yeah, I'm not one to put a cutout on a 4-banger, but that's my personal preference.

Yea, normally Im not either, but want to give it a chance to see what its like. And if it sounds bad, then Ill just keep it closed. simple as that. Want to keep the cat to help avoid some rasp as well.

You can always run it half open, too.

Mine was. But I also had a DMH.

I held the switch to full open in this video, but you didn't have to go full-open.

Hell, just for kicks: Cutout open all the way (Don't mind the one tire fire, my posi was going out, and one tire was on gravel).

interesting. Theyre relativley cheap, so I may give one a try. I wanted to combo it with a header and LSJ downpipe, with tune, to try and maybe see some better top end gains. Just leave it closed for the launch and first 60ft, then open it for the rest of the way.

Not yet, most likely this week. I had to know if I could keep the downpipe with cat. thats a must. I dont want rasp , and that emissions requires it.

The flowtech Race Ready is the actual cutout that the electric valve mounts to. That's how it is for all E-cutouts.

With a four cylinder it might not even provide any gains, you could potentially see losses vs. an aftermarket exhaust.

You'll see more gains at top end, though.
