Engine Stutter When Idle?
Engine Stutter When Idle?
I've noticed recently that when idle, my engine will stutter here and there, nothing like clockwork, but it does happen, once every 5 or so stops it, it stutters when idle.
I've heard it could be poor fuel filters? (correct item?)
I believe stutter is the right term too.
Rather than a constant, calm rumble - it will be calm, then slightly rowdy, more active, vibrating for a second, then back to calm.
The car has 50k miles.
I'm trying to look into as much as possible before my warranty is up at the end of the month.

There are a couple of issues that are plaguing me at the moment, this being one of them.
Problem is, if I don't identify the issue directly they don't treat it. It's ridiculous.
I feel like a jackass bringing it in on multiple accounts, but I am sure of these issues being abnormal, which is why I'm trying to get concise prognosis on these issues. I want to bring it in and tell them it's this this and this.
I'm still trying to figure out why the car has a mild vibration while driving.
No clue why the wheel has to be cocked at a slight angle to the RIGHT to drive STRAIGHT.
(I Feel as if the turning is not 100% even, like turning it to the left 20% and then 30% does not necessarily mean a 10% increase in angle. Though that could be the body roll making me seem its more extreme. My suspicion is alignment, though this is SO incremental - Hold the wheel straight, it drift to the left slowly. Hold the wheel roughly 1/8th inch to the right, it drives straight. I pay attention to this kind of ****. OR It could just be roads aren't god damned straight!)
I have no idea what the rhythmic bumping noise is, its definitely from the front right end, it sounds like a flat. The tire is full, I know that, it has the same PSI as the rest. It just has a more flat tone when going over bumps, etc, and it is especially apparent after not driving and the car cooling, or it being cold weather.
Until I get this narrowed, I don't want to bring it in.
They'll just do what they did last time.
Drive it around the block, say they didn't HEAR anything, and give the car back.
And I'll of spent 2 days without a car.
BTW, thanks for the thread on the throttle body, that sounds like it!

what??? it's not the consumers job to identify the problems. techs get paid for a reason. take it to a different dealer.
hmmmm the "rythmic sound" sounds like the shocks. dont worry about that all cobalts do it in the cold, or it could be a side effect of your alignment issue. and as for the steering wheel and turnin issues. def go to a shop and get an alignment done, this is probably your issue. when was the last time you had and alignment done? also check the wear on your tires for inconsistancy. if one side is worn more than the other you def need to go to a shop and have the alignment/camber checked.

The tires are BRAND new, they replaced them, so they should be uneven in ANY way.
I'm going to tell them they need an alignment, and throttle valve.
So that's a few checks on my list.
all cobalts have a GM warranty so you should be able to take it to any dealer. the gm warranty should be something like 3 yr/60,000miles or 5 yr/100,000miles. lemon law is diffrent, have them check it out and see what the prtoblem is, they should do an alignment for you.
Car is an 06, miles are 53,000.
What is the exact outline of the warranty so I know what's covered?
I just know for that two month period I can bitch to them, so after that what's up.

its also 36,000 bumper to bumper, 100,000 powertrain. Again, this is for me. Its an 07 and im the second owner - but the GM warranty transfers.
