Getting ready to remove the head
In case anyone at home decides to take on this sort of project I am sharing information with you as I find it. If you look at this catalog it shows you Wiseco's cylinder recommended prep procedure. Basically (for a cylinder in good condition and proper bore) start with 400 grit and then end with 600 grit to plateau the finish if I am understanding correctly.
Edit: More info-Just in case you don't know, like I didn't, the cam gear bolts are torque to yield so they need to be replaced if removed. I just ordered a complete timing chain kit at the parts store and it of course includes these bolts. So it looks like I'm going to go ahead and replace the timing chain while I have everything apart.
