For those who misunderstood my original post. like 8 months ago..

I drive a 2.2 LT Sedan as well that has the 16' rims and Pirelli P6 tires w/the flash for top end. I don't see a need to go over 80 in my sedan because the car wasn't built to go that fast anyways. Just because the speedometer says it can doesn't mean you should.

Think GM should flash the computer just so you get a few more MPH on top end? What will this prove? Your basically asking them to adjust it so you can kill someone or yourself.

ok the 2.2 cobalts can not take turns like the ss's so there is no reason to make them faster, you prove nothing with top speed, it is all about 0-60 and slalom #!!!!

sorry but that was one of the most ignorant post ive seen latly.... yes i have a 2.2 but im unbiased on it.... but for one i want my govener gone so i can dyno my car, 2 base modles can take turns identical to the SS once you swap some suspencion parts... and 3rd, some people want top speed, others it just sucks knowing your stuck at 105 mph and then no matter how much you mod it, your only going to go 105... just somne food for thought

just go to a cool dealer like i did and show them u have new tires and rims rated for higher speeds and u can get the tire size changed and effectivley remove the 105mph gov...this will NOT remove the fuel cut off though...NEVER do that

no i work at a dealership so will any one do it for you i don't know i just done it to mine to correct a problem and it happend to erase the limiter too. kind of a two for one. 05's have problems with running lean and the update richens it up and the update is what deleates the limiter.

I saw that there was an update for a lean code for my car but I was at a chevy dealership at the time so the flash wouldn't work.

I'm going to try to go to a saturn dealership and see if they can flash me. While I was at the dealership I was also told that my tire size is actually set to 16" yet my limiter is still at 108. Then I hear from another cobalt member that its actually the tire rating that they change, not the tire size that will effect the governor.

I'm gonna try to get a flash, hope they don't look under the hood though...or in the trunk

take the bottle out, or cover it up!!

and yea, it has to do with the rating of the tire, not the size

IonNinja the chevy dealer should have been able to give you your update. Saturns dont use any special equipment.

To flash or "update" the pcm all they do is plug in a Tech 2, retrieve the vin, goto TIS WEB, upload the new software to the tech 2, take it to the car and download it. Super easy.

He had my car plugged into a Tech 2, he was able to retrieve my VIN and see the update but for some reason he was not able to actually download the software.

re-govena removal

Just wondering if anyone was able to get GM to remove the govenor(105) cut off. I'm still waiting patiently for the pcm tune. It is real gay having a car that can go over 105 and can't. My 1994 z24 5-speed pulled like crazy...all the way to 108 then.....govena! Raced a chrysler mini-van down I-57 south and it zoomed past me. Embarassing to me to say the least. So you SS guys should not even trip about us wanting to go a little faster...insecure???!!!! Any-way when someone finds a fix, give me a pm.

My sentiment sexactly Sounds to me that things have escalated in this thread and Even as ss/sc owner would never say anything bad about someone who chooses to buy the ls model this isn't a place for arguing the car is a good car and we all know that $$$$dollars make horsepower! This thread has been saddening to watch because thats not what this forum is about ! Just my peice of mind

They will come out with a chip set to over come the govener i wouldn't suggest any other way to do so!

Went to my dealership today to pick up my car after it's had some problems (that's another story) but when I dropped it off on Wednesday, I asked them to see if there is a reflash to raise the governor on my car and they said they'd look into it. I was told today that there isn't a reflash for that or if there is, they wouldn't do it because of warrenty. Oh well, just gotta wait til something comes out for it...

Ok. from what im understanding in this thread, there is no actual update to raise/remove the govenor, but with the update for the car running lean, it raises/removes the govenor as a little bonus. Now, is going to the dealership and asking for this free?
