Going to get a 07 Cobalt LT need some rec

Ok, So I'm about to purchase a LT sedan with the 2.2 in a few weeks. I can't afford the SS but I wish I could!

I am looking to make close to 200-220hp with mods over the coarse of a year, hopefully that number is not unrealistic. Can someone provide a short list of the order of the mods I should get. I have to stick with GMPP as I need my warranty, I can't throw out the warranty even before I buy the car! lol

Thanks guys.

You'll have to go Forced Induction to get that high with the 2.2l ecotec. Hell us 2.4l guys cant even seem to get to 200+HP without it.

Intake/Header/Exhaust is a good start. You'll just have to be patient on tuning for the engine, there isn't any yet but it will come.

I can get Supplier Pricing but they banned my discount until next year, been off for almost 2 years now.

Could you get me a better pricing then supplier, and how would that work if you're in a different state? I always thought you had to physically be there when the purchase was made?

edit: And no, I haven't purchased it just yet, I'm about 3 weeks away from buying it. Just waiting for a certain paycheck to come for the downpayment

I'm not sure how this discount compares to the Supplier Discount. Email me your date of birth and last 4 digits of your social security number, and I'll send you a confirmation number. Then you can use it or not, no big deal deal either way.

Yeah I think supplier is usually about 500 bucks more then GMS but maybe a little extra with the cobalts. If I can save an extra 700 bucks I just might go for the 2.2L SS.

The GMS will surely help on the GMPP parts though I'm sure. Might allow me to get more parts and quicker.

If your worried about the insurance then go with the LT/LS. If its just the purchase price, i would suggest hold out a bit longer and save for the SS. Just my $0.02.

Yea i hear you. I still have to stay under my dads name and was paying $140/m (Canadian). Then a month after ive been driving the car, they dropped it down to $100. If i knew of the drop i would have easily have spent the extr $1000 and got the SS.

Its all good tho. Lt/Ls is still a very good car for the price (not to mention fun to drive...well 5 sp manual to me).

Unfortunately, only immediate family members can use my GMS discount. But, I can offer the "Supplier" discount, if that would help.

If I got this LT and then got the GMPP Exhaust manifold, exhaust kit with tip, and CAI, would I be anywhere near 180hp? Coming from 150 stock.

I am trying my best to get the 1SS, the auto, then get all the GMPP parts and hopefully pump about 200-220. Sound correct?

edit: I am immediate family! lol. Yeah I can already get supplier, which is about $500-700 more then GMS, unfortunetly that little bit might be the determining factor right now...

Intake, manifold, downpipe and cat-back will probably get you into the 170's, maybe close. If you want to top 200, F/I is the ONLY way to do it... once tuning comes out, of course. IMO, the 2.4 would be a better platform to start with if you can afford it. You'll get more stock HP, available tuning, suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes, etc.

Very doubtful the 2.2l engine will get to 180 HP on simple bolt ons.
I estimate around 160-170 HP, and that's Bench tuning there, nothing in stone.

As someone else said, the 2.4l engine would get you around where you seem to be aiming for with I/H/E + tune. And of course the SS/SC is already well beyond that straight off the dealer lot.
